Unit 5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came? 第一课时New words and phrasesLearning Goals:一、语言知识和语言功能:1. 能争取学会使用下列词汇造句子。rainstorm, alarm ,begin ,heavily, suddenly ,strange, wind, light, report, area ,wood ,window, flashlight, match, beat ,against, rise, fallen, icy ,kid, realize, passage, pupil, completely, recently, terrorist ,date ,tower, truth.2. 能争取学会使用下列常用短语造句子。go off, pick up, fall asleep, die down, have a look, make ones way ,in silence,take down, at first. 3. 能认读下列词汇apart , shocked 4. 通过理解、翻译并复述运用本节课的新词汇所编写的故事, 让同学们坚信在困难面前, 只要我们团结一心,一切都会更美好! 二、学习策略: 1. 依据图片理解和记忆词汇。(Understand and remember the words and phrases with the help of the pictures.) 2. 在语境中理解和记忆词汇。(Understand and remember the words and phrases in the context.)3. 依据读音规则、构词规律理解和记忆词汇。(Understand and remember the words and phrases according to phonetic rules, the structures of the words and phrases.)Teaching and learning steps:Step I. Learn how to read the new words1. First, ask the Ss to try reading the new words in Unit 5 by themselves.2. Next, play the tape and ask the Ss to read after the tape to correct the pronunciation.3. Then, let the Ss work in groups of four to help each other to get more correct pronunciation.4.The teacher walks around the groups to give necessary help(设计意图:学生先根据音标自己试读单词,将难读的或无法读出的单词标注出来。这样让学生先自己试一试,以便他们发现自己的弱点,其他同学纠正发音。再通过跟读录音,让学生自我纠正一些不准确的发音,然后每一组中的个别学生展示自己的读音,由其他组纠正发音,最后通过小组互助的方式和老师个别辅导的方式,少部分拼读能力不强的同学也能得到有针对性的帮助。)Step II. Learn how to memorize the new words and phrases.1. Remember the words and phrases according to the pictures. rainstorm: 暴风雨What were you doing when the rainstorm came? alarm: 闹钟The alarm didnt go off,so I was late for school. pick up:接电话She is picking up the phone. wind: 风The wind was blowing heavily. light: 光The light is bright. report: 报道The reporter is reporting. wood: 木头 window: 窗户He put some pieces of wood over the window. flashlight: 手电筒I have a nice flashlight. match:火柴There are some matches in the box. icy: 结冰的There is some ice on the road, so it is very icy. pupil: 学生The pupils are reading. terrorist: 恐怖分子This terrorist is dangerous. date: 日期 Whats the date today? Its may 18th. tower: 塔I went to LeiFeng tower last year. fall asleep: 睡着The baby fell asleep finally. fallen: 倒下的There are some fallen trees on the road.(设计意图:使用图片可以帮助学生非常形象地记住词汇。)2. Remember the words according to their similar pronunciation./ fit bit hit kid/:/ beat eat sea read/ai/ rise surprise execise/ apart against asleep 3. Remember the words and phrases by conversion(转换), compound(合成)and derivative(派生)(1) Conversion(转换):一个单词(或短语)由一种词类用作另一种词类. The kid is always kidding.n. 孩子 v. 开玩笑(2) Derivative(派生): 在词根上加前缀或后缀构成另一个与原意略有变化或截然相反的词.(1). 形容词+ ly 副词 heavy adj 重的 + ly heavily adv 大量地 sudden adj 突然的 + ly suddenly adv 突然 recent adj 最近的 + ly recently adv 最近地 complete adj 彻底的 + ly completely adv 彻底地 (2). 动词 + ed 形容词shock v 使震惊 + ed shocked adj 受惊的(3). 形容词+ th 名词true adj 真实的 + th truth n 事实(设计意图:词汇派生法,单词词性转换等方法,激发学生学习兴趣,引导学生掌握学习词汇的科学方法。)4. Remember the words by guessing the meanings of the following underlined words according to the context. The wind was blowing heavily in the evening, but it was dying down at midnight. 逐渐变弱,逐渐消失. Dont write down the words. Lets have a look at the blackboard. 看一看Because of the sad news, we didnt talk with each other and we sat there in silence, 沉默,无声 After the storm, our neighborhood was in a mess. Ask them to look at the Chinese and say the English while covering the English words and phrases. 2. Ask the Ss to write down the words and phrase they havent grasped on their notebook for reviewing after the class. Step IV. Learn how to use the new words and phrases in a story.Ben was a school pupil. This morning he made his way to school in a hurry. He got up late, because he didnt fall asleep until 3 a.m.Yesterday was terrible. The reporter reported that a heavy rainstorm was in the area. His family were busy in silence. Bens dad was putting pieces of wood over the windows. Bens mother was putting a flashlight and some matches on the table. Ben was picking up the phone.At first, it was very dark and there was no light outside. Then the rain began to beat heavily against the windows .The old houses and some trees were taken down. He realized that it was very dangerous so he was completely shocked. At first the wind was blowing heavily. Finally, the wind was dying down at 3:00 a.m. When he woke up, the sun was rising. He found the neighborhood in a mess. Fallen trees, broken windows were everywhere. They joined the neighbors to help clean up the neighborhood. It brought them closer together. 1. Ask the students to read the story silently, and underline the new words and phrases.2. Ask the students to translate the story into Chinese in pairs.3. Let the Ss read the story aloud by themselves and prepare for retelling.4. Help the Ss to retell the story according to the mind maps. In the face of difficulties, as long as we unite as one, everything will be better!(词不离句,句不离篇,在学生掌握本单元生词的基础上,把短文和思维导图 结合起来,引导学生在具体的语境中加强对词汇的理解,同时引导学生学会把握篇章大意和篇章结构,并在心里导图的帮助下复述故事,从而强化对新词汇的记忆。) Step V.
