Teaching aidsPPTTeaching proceduresStep one: Greeting Step two: pre-reading 1. Show some pictures of famous places both in foreign county and in China 2. Show the picture of the Yangtze River and the Yellow River 3. Have a brain storming. Lead in the idea of traveling along a river by asking students how people use it 4. Describe the Mekong River to students and let them guess what river it is and lead in the reading partStep three: while-reading 1. Students go through the reading part and answer the questions about “who” “where” “what ”to grasp the main idea 2 Help the students to understand those geography terms by showing pictures and point out the characteristics of each term and then let students try to define themStep four: post-reading 1. Change the reading passage into a dialogue between Wang Kun and Wang Wei such as:Wang Wei: You know, weve always wanted to do a long bike trip. Why dont we go on one after we graduate from college?Wang Kun: Thats a good idea2. Divide the students into two groups, one group agrees that they can complete their bike travel dream and the other dont agree that opinion. Have a discussion and give reasons to support the ideas (the students should get this result: we should have a plain before dong something)step five: summary Ask the students what they have learn in this class.Step six: homework Choose one:1 Pick out eight new words to make up a passage2 Write a composition about dream and planOptional activities Discuss if we want to travel, what we should plan before we starting in order to have a pleasure journey.
