現代福爾摩斯李昌鈺博士l 1938年出生於中國江蘇省 1959年畢業於中央警官學校（中央警察大學前身） 1965年畢業後分發至台北市警察局擔任外事警官 1972年紐約強傑刑事司法學院獲得鑑識科學學士 1974年紐約強傑刑事司法學院獲得生化碩士 1975年紐約強傑刑事司法學院獲得生化博士學位 1975年受聘為康州紐海芬大學鑑識科學助理教授 1978年為終身教授並出任鑑識科學系主任 1979年獲聘為康乃狄克州警政廳刑事實驗室主任兼首席鑑識專家 1998年7月出任康乃狄克州警政廳廳長 2000年退休後 擔任康州警政廳的榮譽廳長 紐約州警政廳總顧問 康州警政到刑事科學中心總監 紐海芬大學首席教授和國家現場鑑識培訓中心主任 中國人民公安大學刑事科學技術實驗室名譽主任、湖北警官學院終身客座教授、實驗中心名譽主任、沈陽市公安局刑事科學研究所終身顧問榮譽學位1.
