Well, obviously its because we have mirror neurons (神经元) in our brains.Put simply, the presence of mirror neurons suggests that every time we see someone else do something, our brains model after it, whether or not we actually perform the same action. This explains a great deal about how we learn to smile, talk, walk, dance or play sports. But the idea goes further: mirror neurons not only appear to explain physical actions, they also tell us that there is a biological basis for the way we understand other people.Mirror neurons can undoubtedly be found all over our brains, but especially in the areas which relate to our ability to use languages, and to understand how other people feel. Researchers have found that mirror neurons relate strongly to language. A group of researchers discovered that if they gave people sentences to listen to (for example: “The hand took hold of the ball”), the same mirror neurons were triggered as when the action was actually performed (in this example, actually taking hold of a ball).Any problems with mirror neurons may well result in problems with behavior. Much research suggests that people with social and behavioral problems have mirror neurons which are not fully functioning (行使职责). However, it is not yet known exactly how these discoveries might help find treatments for social disorders.Research into mirror neurons seems to provide us with ever more information about how humans behave, communicate and spend time together. Indeed, it may turn out to be nearly the same important thing for neuroscience as what Einsteins theory of relativity (相对论) was for physics. And the next time you have the strong feeling to cough in the cinema when someone else does well, perhaps youll understand why.48. Does it look like anything? Is it supposed to? Abstract art became popular in the early 20th century. Artists did not want to paint, draw, or sculpt things exactly(确切地) like they looked. They didnt want their art to be realistic. They were more interested in basic shapes and colours. Picasso is probably the most famous of these artists. He painted and drew in many, many styles. Sometimes he used a lot of blue colours(his “blue period”). Later, he used more red and pink colours (his “rose period”). Many of his other paintings are called “cubist(立体画派)” because they are made of painted squares. After a long time, Picassos paintings became more and more abstract. He painted people and things using strange shapes. His work was so original; many of his fellow artists didnt understand it. Kandinsky, another famous artist, used lines, shapes, and patterns to paint his subjects. His paintings also used strong colours to express feelings. Other artists like the surrealists(超现实主义者), were interested in subconscious(潜意识). Painters like Breton and Magritte used many symbol in their work. The meaning or subject of their work wasnt always clear. Dali, another surrealist artist, painted pictures that look like dreams. There are still many abstract artists around the world. Thats the way many artists prefer. They want each person to look at art and find their own meaning in it.根据短文内容,选择最佳答语,并在答题卡上按要求作答。61. Which would be most like abstract art? A. A painting of a house.
