Show some pictures to the students.What are the kids doing?Task 2:Leading-in Do you often help your parents with some chores at home?Task3: Pre-reading Discuss the questions below with students. Do you help your parents with housework?What do you often do to help your parents at home? Do you think kids should help out with chores at home? Lead in some new words and phrases.Task4: While-reading 1. Skimming (1) Look through the letters quickly and answer Which one agrees and which one disagrees? (2) Ask the students to skim the letters again. Find and underline Mr. Smiths and Ms. Millers points about children helping with housework. Introduce what skimming is.2. Scanning Ask the students to read the letters carefully to understand the main ideas of each paragraph and finish the following questions. (1)According to Ms. Miller and Mr. Smith, what are the pros and cons about kids doing chores? (2) Read the first letter again and finish the chart.Discuss the answer with partner.Ask some students to show their answers.
