To grasp the past progressive tense.教学思路本课的教学内容是人教版八年级下册第五单元的第一课时，通过讲述自己的经历，激发学习的兴趣，学会运用过去进行时，任务以听说为主。重点是过去进行时的学习和运用。情感目标定为培养学生学习英语的积极性和兴趣，并体会生活中如何用英语来交流。教学准备multimedia , blackboard, tape-recorder 教学过程 Step1 Lead-inLead in by showing a vedio of a person walking in the rainstorm helplessly. And talk about this situation with students. Can you guess whats the feeling of the person ? Have you ever had the same experience? Can you share the experience with us? What were you doing when the rainstorm came?设计意图：观看视频，讲述自己偶遇暴雨的经历，激发学生的思维，活跃课堂气氛，引起学生表达的欲望，激起学英语的兴趣，引出过去进行时。Step2 Presentation Look at the sentence in the picture :” What were the people doing yesterday at the time of the rainstorm?” Read it aloud over and over , try to recite it . Then think over what the difference is between “What were you doing ?” and “What are you doing?” Have some students try to say out their ideas. Then point out that they both mean “doing” , but “were” represents in a past time, while “are” represent now.设计意图：把现在进行时和过去进行时的句子进行对比，先让学生自己比较异同，然后教师点出不同点，让学生豁然开朗。Step3 Listening1. Listen to the TV reporter and circle the correct responses in 1a2. Check the students answers3.
