Presentation: 1. Translate the phrases into English/Chinese.get a haircut at the gymthe hair salon on Saturday morningmeet a friend 练武术看报 地铁站去远足 繁忙的人们 2.Walk around the classroom and ask the students: What did you do yesterday? Were you busy yesterday? Then tell the students what I did yesterday by using the simple past tense and the past continuous tense. 3. Write some times and phrases on the blackboards. Then repeat them by using the past continuous tense.Step 3. Presentation. 1. Point the time and the phrases on the blackboard and tell the students: I was very busy yesterday. I read a magazine. I played football. Then give some examples by using the past continuous tense: I was having breakfast at 7:00 yesterday. I was reading newspapers at 8:00 pm last night. Ask the students: What was I doing at - yesterday?Pay attention to use was/were+v.ing. 2. Write a question on the blackboard: What were you doing at 10:00 am last Sunday? Ask the students answer the question one by one as soon as possible. 3. Books open. Show Transparency. Play the Pupils book cassette. Read the conversation and ask the class to read it. 4. Tell the students to read the words again. Then they complete Tims timetable according to the conversation between Tim and Bob. 5. Have the students read the dialogue at the bottom of the page. They need to complete the dialogue using the words in Candys thought bubble.Step 4. Act. Ask the students to work in pairs. Prepare sets of paper strips on which different activities are written, e. g. get a haircut, do martial arts, read some magazines, watch a film, etc, Give each pair a set of paper strips theyre given. Each pair prepares a schedule using the activities on the paper strips theyre given. Each pair prepares a schedule like the one on page 50. Then they write a short paragraph about the schedule. Have each pair take turns telling the class what they did and where they did it.Step 5. Test.Complete the sentences after the model:Model: I played the piano at the Childrens Palace yesterday. At 9:30 I was playing the piano at the Childrens Palace yesterday.1. We did martial arts at the gym yesterday.At 8:00 we _ _ martial arts at the gym yesterday.2.
