Unit 4 Wildlife protection Background information:Students: Junior high school, Grade 1Lesson duration: 45 minutesType of the lesson: speaking Teaching aids: blackboard, PPT, chalk, cards Teaching objectives:Knowledge aims: (a) . Help students to understand and master the words and expressions. (b) . Let the students know some basic information about the endangered animals and wildlife situation and protection.Ability aims: Encourage students to think and express their attitude toward the wildlife and wildlife protection.Emotion aims: Help students understand the importance of the wildlife protection and make them become active in helping wildlife.Teaching key:(a) .Help students think and express their opinions about what measures will be taken to protect endangered wildlife. (b) Help students use important structures to express wildlife protection.Difficult point: Students lack of some background information about endangered animals.Teaching procedures: Step 1:Pre-speaking: (a) Review:Questions :(1) Do you remember what passage of last lesson talks about? (2) How many animals does Daisy meet? What are they?Purpose: To review some words and expressions that may will be used in the next part. To help students be familiar with words to practice oral English. (b) Lead in: At first, look at some cute wildlife animals pictures and ask them: T- Are they cute? S- Yes! T-But they are dying out! Show some bloody pictures and then let students talk about their feeling after seeing pictures.Purpose: Seeing the bloody pictures aim at aspire students sympathy and desire to protect them.Step 2 .While -speaking Discussion: work in pairs (a) . I will show students ten kinds of cards of endangered animals information. Then give them some reference questions and expressions on the PPT. Purpose: Because students lack of background information of endangered wildlife, so cards will help them to get information. And reference questions and expressions help students express their opinions fluently.(b) .Each pair chooses one of cards which you are interested in. Analyze why this animal is endangered and take notes. (c). Check the work Purpose: Taking notes to make sure students can remember the important information which has just discussed. Check the work to provide chances for students to practice oral English.Group work Situation: (a) Suppose you are a journalist and you are going to interview some people about how to protect endangered wildlife. Some students play roles of farmer, a member of WWF, student, a government official and so on.Purpose: Students play different roles to help them think questions in different perspectives and in different ways.(b) Show some useful expressions and an example for students to follow and help them practice oral English.(c) Show students some reference protection measures of endangered animals.Purpose: For students to imitate.(d) The journalist interviews these students and takes notes. Students should express their opinions about how to protect endangered wildlife standing their roles. (e) At last, the journalist as a representative to state his or her groups view on wildlife protection.Purpose: To check out their discussion result. Step3. Post -speaking:Write a passage about wildlife situation and protection, then share them with classmates.Purpose: To integrate knowledge from this lesson.Step4. Homework: Choose one of animals which you like and collect information about its current situation and protection measures, and then give a report in the next class.Purpose: As students have learnt something about how to protect
