A board of directors is a body of elected or appointed persons who jointly oversee the activities of a company or organization. The body sometimes has a different name, such as board of trustees, board of governors, board of managers, or executive board. It is often simply referred to as “the board”.2. A chair leads the board of directors, presides over meetings, and leads the board to consensus from the disparate points of view of its members.3. A CEO:a. manages the organization in order to ensure compliance;b. manages day to day contact-writes press releases, etc;c. manages the organization;d. is responsible for policy implement action;e. is responsible for informing and guiding board on realistic and achievable goals;f. is responsible for implementation of strategic plans;g. delivers on short term goals;h. provides the board with relevant material with which to make policy level decisions;i. prepares annual budget;j. manages fund raising campaigns;k. liaises with auditors and provides all financial records;l. inputs to agenda for board meetings;m. liaises and manages relationships with the companys legal representatives.Exercise 2: True or False 1.T 2.F 3.T 4.F 5.T 6.T 7.FExercise 3: Describing Pictures When this picture comes to me, I remind myself of a role, chairman. Picture 1 tells us a chairman should be in charge of everything and everyone else should directly follow chairmans instructions, and we can clearly see that picture 1 has a simple structure “one-more”. However, we know, picture 2 has a clear structure organized by several departments and these departments are at the same time supported by their own sections. We can see that picture 2 has better organization than picture 1. For picture 1, to be “simple” in organization is to be difficult in management. Understand the dialogue and the passages.【重 点】Master the expressions in Useful Expressions.【难 点】Capable of answering questions at interview properly.【课时安排】Course Introduction: 1 hourDialogue & Useful Expressions: 1 hourText A: 1 hourText B: 1 hour【教学方法】讲授法/案例法/讨论法/演示法教 学 内 容Text BExercise 1: Answering Questions1. Job descriptions are essential and they are required for recruitment so that you and all the other applicants can understand the responsibilities.2. It allows you to clarify expectations with your employer and your boss.3. The process of writing job descriptions is actually quite easy and straight-forward with around 8-12 points.Exercise 2: Giving SuggestionsMartin, if I were you, I could alternate some points. First, I suggest you that you should state your general description of your job. Second, you should specifically list several points of your job responsibilities. Therefore, I would describe the job this way as followed: I work for the UK subsidiary of a Japanese company as a company secretary. I do lots of work such as arranging the meeting, receiving visitors, answering the phone, reviewing supplier and all other contact/ agreement, preparation fir agenda, minutes for meetings of the board of directors. This company is very Japanese in terms of the way its run. A new boss from Japan always has time for me and gives me lots of support.Exercise 3: Making a DialogueA: I know you work in this company as Sales and Marketing Director. Would you please tell me whom you should report to?B: I report to the CEO, or Managing Director, or General Manager.A: Oh, great! Could you explain something about your job responsibilities?B: My job mainly includes 5 parts, planning, organizing, coordinating, leading and controlling.A: Ur, you really handle a great task. But would you like to give me more description for your job?B: Ok, for planning, I plan marketing strategy, customer retention and development, sales of marketing resourcesfor organizing, I implement, for coordinating, I manage A: Thanks for your detailed introduction. Nice talking to you.B: My pleasure!Unit 3 DialogueStudents work in pairs and give performance in front.Useful ExpressionsStudents read the expressions, and understand what should be said under certain situation.Class Activities of Dialogue1. Exercise 1: Blank Filling.2. Exercise 2: Making a dialogue based on the scenario given on textbook. 1. Whos calling?2. Whom is Amy Zheng calling for?3. Can Mr. Johnson answer the phone, why?4. Why is Amy calling?5. What detail does Amy want to make sure? Understand the dialogue and the passages.【重 点】Master the expressions in Useful Expressions.【难 点】Capable of answering questions at interview properly.【课时安排】Course Introduction: 1 hourDialogue & Useful Expressions: 1 hourText A: 1 hourText B: 1 hour【教学方法】讲授法/案例法/讨论法/演示法教 学 内 容1. Student report & Role play Topic:Telephone etiquette for the called party(Ask the students to explain in their own words and report by group, two students act the wrong parts out, other two students try to explain the problems and report the right ways) Possible Answers1. Be Prompt Whenever Possible2. Greetings and MoodIts important to be upbeat and positive when answering the phone. Smile before you pick up the phone. Always greet the caller according to the time of day and identify yourself with either a first name or first name and surname, unless your company has a strict “no name” policy, and the company name followed by establishing the reason for the call.3. Be Preparedkeep a pen and pad handy4. Putting Callers on HoldFirstly tell them why and ask them if they object to being placed on hold. you should go back to the caller every minute or so, explain that youre still trying to put them through to X or get the information they need and ask them if they would still like to be put back on hold. And, you should repeat this every minute until either you can resolve the situation or they decide to try again another time. 5. Ending the CallBefore ending the call, you should always try to recap what youve discussed, 6.Passing on Messages to ColleaguesIf youve been asked to pass a message on to a work colleague, always do so as soon as possible. 7.Other Useful Tipsa. Never chew gum or be eating when youre answering the phone.b. Speak slightly more slowly on the phone than you would if you were having a general face-to-face conversation. c. It is not quite proper to always have calls of a personal nature. Therefore make sure you dissuade relatives and friends from calling you at work. 有些可以放一些恰当音频文件给学生听然后回答问题 )2 TextA outline and tipsText A topic:Telephone etiquette for the called partyOutline1.
