Pre-reading activities1. Preview Ask the students to translate the following Chinese into English. Warming up and leading in Ask the students to talk about the following questtions: 1. Do you often do chores at home? 2. What do you often do to help your parents at home? 3. Do you think kids should help out with chores at home? Why?/Why not?Step2. While-reading activities.1. Read for the general idea读取大意Task 1. Skim the two letters . Which one agrees and which one disagrees?Tip 1: SkimmingThis means looking quickly through a piece of writing to find the main idea without reading every word. It is still a good idea to read the first sentence in each paragraph a little more carefully.2. Read for the specific ideas读取细节 (1)Scan Letter 1 and find out the topic sentence.
