As we all know that interest is the best teacher for students. This class is the third period of Unit 5.It was an article about a rainstorm. It will give students practice for specific information. 二学情分析 The students have learned past progressive tense in the first and second period. They master the grammar well. Thislesson is a reading lesson. After the listening, reading and grammar class. Students have prepared for the reading class.三教学目标 (一). Knowledge Objects.1. Key vocabulary: storm, wind, light, report, area, wood, window, match, flashlight, beat, against, asleep, fall asleep, die down, rise, fallen, apart.2. Phrases: black clouds, feel like, fall asleep, put pieces of wood over the windows, make sure, beat against, in a mess, die down, fallen trees, broken windows, bring people closer together, hear strong wind outside his home, with no light outside, in the area, beat heavily against the windows, break many things apart.3. Target language:(1)Black clouds were making the sky very dark.(2)With no light outside, it felt like midnight. (3) It was hard to have fun with a serious storm happening outside.(4) Although the storm broke many things apart, it brought families and neighbors closer together.(二). Watch a video about a storm to let the Ss feel the serious storm.2. Show some phrases about storm to let the students choose what they saw in the video. At the same time teach them the new words.3. Lead the students to think of what people should to prepare before the storm and teach some of the new words.1. Show the pictures of Alabama and Ben to lead in the article.2. SkimmingFirst, explain what is skimming then let Ss to ready quickly and answer what the writer wants to tell us in the story? Then show the Ss the picture after the storm.3. Scanning First, tell Ss how to scan an article and then find out how the storm brought people closer together. Then check the answer with their partner.4. Read and finish the chart. Then ask some Ss to finish the chart and remember for two minutes.1.
