(作为特殊用途的)布,布料;桌布;He used a wet cloth to wipe the floor. 他一块湿抹布擦地板。拓展:clothes n. 衣服 put on /take off ones clothes 穿、脱衣服clothing n. 衣服(总称) 6 ruin(1)vt. 毁坏,破坏,糟蹋Smoking ruined his health.(2) n. 常用复数 ruins 废墟 in ruins 一片废墟,破烂不堪Years of fighting has left the area in ruins.连年战乱使这里变成一片废墟。重点短语1.fix ones eyes on 注视,凝视Will you please fix your eyes on what I am talking about?拓展:fix ones mind/attention/eyes on sb/sth 把思想、注意力、双眼集中在.stare at 注视,凝视 重点句型Across this painting, named Racing Horse, we can see a horse running at high speed like a missile across the sky. 在这幅名为“奔马”的画中,我们看到一匹骏马像导弹穿越天空那样在飞速地奔驰。句式分析:(1) 在这句中,“named Racing Horse” 是过去分词短语作定语修饰painting,name的用法是name A B 把A叫作B, 所以 name与painting之间是动宾关系,可换为定语从句“ which is named Racing Horse”. 拓展: 分词作定语,判断该动词与被修饰名词的关系,逻辑主谓关系(主动)用现在分词(逻辑上是动宾关系(被动)用过去分词(done).They lived in a house facing south. 他们住在门朝南的房子里。We have read many novels written by this author.我们读了很多这位作者写的小说。(2) “we can see a horse running at high speed like a missile across the sky.” see sb./ sth. doing sth 看见某人/某物正在做某事We saw several boys dancing on the playground yesterday.我们昨天看见一些男孩儿在操场上跳舞。拓展:see sb. do sth 看见某人做某事 sb be seen to do sth 某人被看见做某事I saw the teacher come into the classroom with a book in his hand.我看见老师手里拿着一本书走进教室。2. Its black eyes, which are fixed on the cabbage, show the creatures interest in the vegetable. 他的黑眼睛正盯着白菜,显示出对白菜的极大兴趣。句式分析:“which are fixed on the cabbage ,” 是非限制性定语从句。非限制性定语从句与先行词之间用逗号分开,且两者间关系松散,只起补充说明作用。 We passed by an old building, which was built in the 1990s.我们经过一栋老房子,建于20世纪90年代。3. Qi Baishis styles of painting often leave the audience guessing and make them use their imagination. 齐白石的绘画作品常给观赏者留出运用想象力解读其内涵的余地。句式分析:leave the audience guessing, 此处是现在分词作leave宾语的补足语。leave 表示“使/让(某人/ 某物)处于某状态,某地”等,其后可跟复合宾语结构。Dont leave her waiting outside in the rain.不要让她一直在雨中等着。拓展:leave sb/ sth doing/ done/ adj./ n./prep./adv He left, leaving the lights on. 他离开了,灯开着。They went home, leaving their homework unfinished. 他们回家了,作业却没有完成。4. In the painting, a young woman sits alone and is deep in thought. 画中一个年轻女子倚靠独坐,深思着。句式分析:be deep / lost in thought 陷入沉思Mary sat in her room, lost in thought. 5. Chen adds a lot of detail to the fan and the cloth of her dress, and chooses to paint the background behind the woman black. 陈在扇子和裙布上加了很多细节的东西,选择把女子后面的背景画成黑色。句式分析:add to 把加到上 Do you want to add some sugar to your coffee? 你想给咖啡里加点糖吗?拓展:add up to 总计,总共是 add to 使(数量)增加;使(规模)扩大The numbers add up to exactly 100.数字总共是100整。The bad weather added to our difficulties.糟糕的天气加重了我们的困难。6. at, on 和in 用法分析at 在某一点,在某物旁at the shop在商店 at 门牌号 in街道名at the end of the road 在路的尽头Tom sat at the desk.汤姆做在桌旁。on 在之上(尤指在某物的表面上)on the wall在墙上on the Thames在泰晤士河上。There is a bottle of wine on the table.桌上有一瓶酒。in在(范围)内in the room/lake/sky在房子/湖/天空里before, in front of和 in the front ofbefore 表示在空间的位置,“在面前/眼前in front of在面前表示建筑物或无生命的具体位置,其反义词为behindin the front of 在面前, 表示的是某一具体范围之内的
