Grade 8 Module 4 EducationUnit2 Project Hope has built many schools.一、教学目标:1.知识与技能:To understand what Project Hope has done;To write about what one has achieved in English study.具体地说,掌握本模块中关于教育和希望工程的词汇(raise, describe, drop, drop out of school, important, ill, look after, pay, hear of, perhaps);掌握现在完成时的用法;能听懂对行为和状态持续的表述;能利用how long,since 和for进行问答;能掌握文章大意;能结合图片介绍希望工程以及其他类似机构。2.情感态度:通过了解希望工程,增强民族文化意识;能够了解偏远贫困地区人民的疾苦,向贫苦孩子伸出援助之手,培养仁爱之心,关爱之心。3.学习策略:培养自主学习的能力与合作精神,在活动中去参与和体验,运用英语。二、教学设计Teaching stepsTeachers ActivityStudents Activity1.Warming-upHelp students to revise what was learnt in Period one of this module. Show them some pictures about Project Hope.Have the Ss. answer questions about Unit 1; talk about the pictures about Project Hope. Revise the Present Perfect Tense. (Some exercises about the Present Perfect Tense.)1. Have you heard the latest news?2. Some scientists have sent a spacecraft to Mars.3. And have the astronauts discovered life on Mars?4. But astronauts have already been to the moon.5. We have just watched a programme on TV.6.Theyhavent discovered life on Mars yet.7. Astronauts have already landed on the moon. etc.)2.In putI.Learn the new words. Label the pictures with the words.(1). Read through the words on the blackboard. (2).Read the words separately and have them remember them. (3)Call back the answers from the whole class.II. Read the table and talk about Project Hope. (1). Read through the table on the pictures. (2). Call back some comments from the whole class.Have the Ss. Repeat them after you.Remember the words.Make some sentences with the words.Have the Ss. discuss their ideas with another pair.3.PracticeI.Read the passage andchoose the main idea.(1).The teacher ask the Ss to read the passage “ Hope for the future”(2).Call back the answers from the whole class, having individuals read out the answerIIMatch the words with their meanings(1)Ask the Ss to do activity 4 individually. They can use a dictionary if necessary. Then check with a partner.(2) Call back the answers from the whole class as complete sentences.III.Answer the questions in activity3 on Page 29.(1)Read through the questions and make sure the Ss understand what to do. (2)Call back the answers from the whole class, having individuals read out the answersIV.Language useAnswer the questions in Activity 5 on page 29.(1)Ss do it by themselves .Lets see who can finish it as soon as possible. (2). Give the students some time to recall what theyve learned in this class.Ss read the passage and find the main idea, giving reasons for the choice given. Ss do activity 4 individually. They can use a dictionary if necessary. Then check with a partner.Ss do activity 3 on page 29 individually and check with a partner.Ss do it by themselves . Then discuss in pairs and share their answers with the class.4.Out putI. Do activity 6Read through the sentences with the class.Ensure they understand how and, or and but are being used. II.Think about your education. Answer the questions.Look at the sentences.And write more sentences. Use and, or, but.Ss work in pairs and produce a minimum of one sentence of each type.Ss do this activity individually. They can then compare their answers with a partner.5.FreedbackThis unit is about Education and Project Hope.Ss just understand the present perfect tense and what Project Hope has done. They can use “for / since” to make the present persent tenses sentences. Most students can use the vocabulary to expressthe step of using this tense in English freely.(见达标题)6.Summing-up1.Liu Sanzi is an eight-year-old boy from a village in Hunan Province. eight-year-old为合成形容词,一般要用连字符连接起来,而且year也不要用复数形式。an 90-page book一本90页的书a three-room apartment三室的套房2. Now they can go to school with the help of Project Hope. 在希望工程的帮助下,他们现在可以上学了。With the help of the dictionary, we can read English newspapers.借助于词典,我们可以读英文报纸了。They worked out the maths problem with the help of the teacher. 在老师的帮助下,他们算出了那道数学题。3.He stopped going to school a few years ago.他几年前不上学了。注意 :stop doing sth. / stop to do sth. 的用法区别: stop doing sth把正在做的事情停下来;stop to do sth. 停下来去做另一件事情。He stopped to have a cup of tea.他停下来去喝杯茶。4Because of Project Hope, thousands of children have better lives.因为有了希望工程,成千上万的孩子们过上了更好的生活。because of表示“因为”,后面接名词或名词短语。如:He didnt go to the park because of the rain.因为下雨,他没去公园。注意:介词短语because of后面需接名词或名词短语,而使用连词 because 时,后面就要接一个从句。如: He didnt go to the park because it rained.因为下雨,他没去公园。7.Evaluation 1、鼓励评价2、活动评价3、小组议价4、知识测评5、自我评价。8.HomeworkRetell the text.
