Most people hold the traditional view that protecting environment and developing economy are mutually contradictory, developing economy must be based on the cost of destroying the environment, and protecting environment will limit economic development. On the topic of developing economy must be based on the cost of destroying the environment , I feel Ive had a very personal experience. Ive actually watched one place change .I used to live near the raver when I was young . Life at that time was so simple. Adults washed clothes and vegetables by the river, children could swim and play in the river. The views perfect and there was never any litter or rubbish. But, slowly, things started to change. The water became dirty and smelly. Nobody willing to get close to the river as before, that beautiful river started to look such a mess. While developing economy may have caused environmental issues, one should not lose sight of the advantages it brings about. Developing economy can bring us advanced technology which can help us protecting environment, dealing with the pollution and improving energy efficiency, etc. As an old saying goes the water supporting a ship can also sink it.
