ALadies and gentlemen, I returned to this year in a time machine. In the year 2500, we are able to travel through time to any year in the history of the earth. This year is your last chance to change your lifestyle to save the earth.Beginning in the middle of the 20th century, a few people were worried about polluting the earths water and air, but most people did not change their way of life. Instead, they continued to pour dangerous chemicals and other waste into lakes and seas, to drive more and more cars and trucks, and to cut down trees.By the year 2200, the earths water was completely polluted. People could no longer drink water, and they had to use other types of liquids (液体)So, by the year 2300, there were so many people that food became scarce. There was no water to grow food and all of the fish in the lakes and seas died because of pollution. Terrier wars broke out between the rich and the poor. Scientists were working very hard to find another planet in space where humans could live.By the year 2400, the air was too polluted for humans to breathe. So we had to leave earth. But only the rich were able to leave. Where did we go? Nowhere. You see scientists did not find another safe planet, so now we must travel around the universe in our space ships. We are still looking for a place to call our home. So, it is up to you to change history. There is still hope. You must change your lifestyle now, before it is too late. 1Which problem is NOT talked about in Paragraph 2?A. Water. B. Air.C. Lifestyle. D. The shop was set up by a Japanbased company. When a customer comes to the shop, he will be given a pencil and a piece of paper. When he is looking at the shelves for goods, he can write down the number of each thing he wants to buy. Then he may come to a machine, which looks like a bank ATM (Automatic Teller Machine), and press the buttons to tell the machine the numbers and some other information about the goods. The machine will soon give the customer a bill. When the customer puts money into the machine, change will be given back at once, and the words “Thank You for Coming” will appear on the screen of the machine. The robot will select the ordered goods for the customer according to computer center information. The robot, as round as a bucket, is able to decide the weight and size of any goods. It will always take the bigger and heavier goods first before picking up the smaller and lighter ones such as cakes or biscuits. Within half a minute, the robot will make everything ready, and wait for a customer at a certain delivery place. The shop is to meet the needs of the public for the socalled “silent purchase”. It means that a customer can do shopping through mail or even an international computer network without facing the shop owner. This will reduce the cost on the part of the shop, and thus lower the price of goods for the customer. The robot now can deal with most goods in a fast and easy way. Only when dealing with those goods needing special care will the robot ask for help. 5When you want to buy something in the robot shop, first you have to _.A. put money into the machineB. press the buttons of the machine and tell it what you want to buyC. find out what you want to buy and write down the numbers on paperD. go into the shop and select the goods you want with the help of the machine答案与解析C细节理解题。 6In this shop, the robot can do shopping quickly at a lower price, so _.A. the shop has a great futureB. customers often get false goodsC. few customers go there to buy goodsD. the shop will close down soon答案与解析A推理判断题。 7What would be the best title for the text?A.
