Analysis of Teaching Content 教学目标Lesson 26 is the second lesson in Unit 5, Book 5.This unit focus on the subject Look into science, also teach the students something about science. Students cares about the subject because it is close to everyone. Lesson 26 mainly talks about learn to do another experiment. 【知识目标】1. To master the words: match, light, burn, use up, candle holder, shallow, oxygen, one-fifth.2. To master the expressions: do an experiment, fillwith, coverwith, turnupside down, be (not) sure【能力目标】Improve the students ability of speaking, listening, reading and writing. Do and express the experiment.【情感目标】Students can enjoy the pleasure of literature.【教学重点】The usage of prefer.【教学难点】Write a composition to describe an interesting experiment. 课前准备 Tape recorder, Multimedia 教学过程Step 1. Warm-upFree talk: Think about it!1. Do you think science is interesting? Why or why not?2. Name one or two famous Chinese scientists. What do you know about them?Step 2. Presentation1. Do an experiment.2. Show the picture and tell students the experiment: Keep the Candle Burning.3. Introduce something we need in the experiment, meanwhile learn the new words.4. Guess: What do we do the experiment?5. Read the text and fill in the blanks on page 69. Lets do the experiment together! Put the candle in the candle holder. Put the candle holder on the dish. Fill the dish half full with water. Light the candle with a_ or a lighter. What can you see? The candle is burning. _the candle burn for two or three minutes. Then carefully put the jar over it until the top of the jar rests on the dish. As the candle burns, it_ the oxygen in the air. When the candle stops_, it has used up all the oxygen in the air. The water inside the jar_ and fills about_ of the jar. This is because about one fifth of the air is made up of oxygen. 6. Check the answers.7. Guess: What is happening? Listen to the tape and answer the question.8. Listen and follow to the tape.9.
