Progress in ultra-wideband notch antennaAbstract: With the development of wireless communication technology, with a short-range high-speed wireless communications advantages of ultra-wideband (UWB) technology has become a hot research in the field of Moderns ultra-wideband wireless communications. Ultra wideband antenna has los of advantages,such as a simple structure, low power consumption and easy to integrate1, because the ultra-wideband system would overlap other systems and be mutually interferented by each oher, it has a great significance to design a notch characteristic of ultra-wideband antenna. The development of ultra wideband antenna is facing many challenge currently2. However, we have reason to believe that in the next few years there will be a bigger breakthrough. The development in the civilian ultra broadband and mobile communication devices of ultra-wideband antennas will toward a direction of miniaturization, high efficiency, stable gain, wideband and ultrashort and fast pulse response3.Key words: Band-Notched, Ultra-Wideband, Antenna, interferences, wireless communication1. The ultra wideband antennaUltra-wideband antenna, by definition, is a kind of antenna which has wide bandwidth particularly, dating back more than 50 years of development history. It is a communications technology by using a particularly wide spectrum of ultrashort pulses pulse to communicating. It is also known as baseband communications. Whose operating frequency to meet one of the following conditions can be called ultra-wideband antenna system4.I. Bf =2fH-fLfH+fLWherein,fH,fL are the highest and lowest frequencies in -10dB bandwidth system,when Bf 0.20,called the system ultra-wideband systems.II. When the absolute bandwidth fH-fL500MHz,where fH和fL are the highest and lowest frequencies -10dB bandwidth system, this system can also be referred to as ultra-wideband systems.Because the large amount of information, the simple structure, low cost, easy to implement, low power, good reliability and high security features, ultra-wideband systems has been widely used in the field of wireless communications. Ultra-wideband systems has been widely used in the field of wireless communication.It is mainly used in the field of radar technology during the early time. 1972 UWB pulse detector application for a US patent; In 1978 appeared in the original UWB communication system; 1984, UWB system successfully carried out 10 km test; In 1990 the US Defense Advanced Projects Agency (DARPA) began UWB technology for verification. In February 2002, FCC approved UWB technology for civilian main reasons for the slow development of UWB technology: in 1994 it was mainly confined to military use, limiting the third-party development support UWB hardware and software; Since UWB uses many special band, FCC approved UWB technology for slow progress; UWB interference caused by UWB also hindered the pace of development;52. The notch technologySince the electromagnetic signal would interfere with other communication devices during the communication process. So in the indoor short-range ultra-wideband antenna would prevent interference with other devices or interference by other equipment6. In order to reduce mutual interference between systems and improve spectral efficiency, we can take many different ways in which the simplest and most direct way is making the ultra wideband antenna having a large reflection coefficient in the corresponding frequency band, notch resistance and exhibits slow to accept the status of the transmission appears7.3. Notch of the ultra wideband antenna The concept of notch of the ultra wideband antenna was first proposed by American engineers Schana H G . After that, there has been a lot of research about ultra-wideband antenna notch characteristic of these studies can probably were five categories8: the introduction of the antenna radiating elements characteristic narrow resonance structure; the introduction of the narrow-band resonance characteristics of the resonant structure node;the introduction of narrow-band resonance characteristic structure in the feedback branch; the use of separate structure; using electronic tuning oscillation technology. 4. Progress on ultra-wideband notch antennaToday,with the rapid development of ultra-wideband, UWB is becoming more powerful and more widely.Such as: UWB antenna with C-shaped slot9, A small novel ultrawideband antenna with dual band-notched characteristics is proposed and investigated in detail to work more stably; A compact printed UWB antenna with triple band-notched characteristics 10,a compact printed ultra-wideband antenna with triple band-notched characteristics is presented which can make antenna work more stably in some frequency range ; A novel miniaturized UWB antenna with four band-notched characteristics 11In order to eliminate unwanted interferences, UWB antennas with single or dual band rejection function have been reported; A compact disc UltrawideBand (UWB) antenna with quintuple band rejections 12To realize a compact UWB antenna with multiple band-notched functions, there are mainly two limitations. One limitation is due to the mutual coupling of multiband-rejection elements, which would result in the increase of design complexity. The other limitation is due to space restriction in the substrate of the compact UWB antenna13.
