阅读强化训练(十)学生用书p150(单独成册)(建议用时:25分钟) 阅读理解fasting(禁食) for weight loss is considered by many people as a way to lose weight quickly and easily. it is because that people even dont have to take any exercise. the truth is that fasting for weight loss is not safe for the body. in addition, the weight that is lost during a fasting period is often water weight which may be gained right back as soon as one returns to a normal diet. supporters believe that it cleans the body, makes the weight lost quickly, increases energy, and improves the appearance of skin.there are a number of different programs advertising fasting for weight loss; juice fasts are common, but there are a number of others that use ingredients such as honey, lemon or pepper, as the only source of nutrients(营养物) for a day or more. typically, true fasts where one is having nothing but liquids do not last more than three days. but fasts where participants may eat a small meal a day consisting of vegetables, fruits, or whole grains may last longer. however, many people attempt to use fasting for weight loss although there are some possible dangers.first, fasting for weight loss causes an upset stomach and diarrhea(腹泻). if left untreated, this can lead to dehydration(脱水), which has the possibility of causing death. it is important not to exercise when fasting, because the body does not have the energy to increase the heart rate to a higher level, which proves the belief that fasting increases energy is wrong. blood sugar often drops when fasting as well.a fast that lasts for a long time can lead to a lack of vitamin. fasting for weight loss is likely to cause rapid weight loss, but again, this weight is not lost in a healthy manner, and will generally just be gained right back after normal food is eaten again. if one is considering a fast program, it is better to first check with a healthcare professional to be sure it is relatively safe. young people, the elderly and anyone with a health problem should avoid this method for its possible risks.【解题导语】很多人选择使用禁食的方法以达到减肥的目的,这种方法虽然可以快速减肥,但是,专家认为其危害也是很大的。1which is not the belief of those who support the fasting for weight loss?athat they can lose weight more quickly.bthat they can become more energetic.cthat it is safer than the other ways.dthat it makes their bodies cleaner.c解析:细节理解题。 2according to the passage, true fasts for weight loss mean losing weight by_aeating a small meal a daybhaving only liquidsctaking no exercisedtaking more nutrientsb解析:细节理解题。根据第二段中的true fasts where one is having nothing but liquids do not last more than three days可知,真正通过fasting(禁食)减肥的方法是只喝液体不吃其他食物。3one should avoid exercising when fasting because_afasting causes an upset stomachbfasting makes the body short of energycexercising leads to high heart ratedexercising causes low blood sugarb解析:推理判断题。 4what opinion does the writer hold in the passage?afasting is suitable for the middleaged people.bexercising is a better way to lose weight.cdiet control for weight loss is safer.dfasting only has shortterm effect.d解析:推理判断题。从第一段中的which may be gained right back as soon as one returns to a normal diet和第二段中的or whole grains may last longer以及第四段中的will generally just be gained right back after normal food is eaten again可知,作者认为通过禁食减肥的方法只能在短时间内有效。 完形填空i recall a story told to me by a friend who used to commute(乘车上下班) to work daily on a train. once getting off the train, he always_1_to his office building along with all the other people hurrying on their way to their_2_each morning, he passed a(n)_3_man who was always at the same spot with a _4_in his hand. he hoped to get a bit of_5_by those who passed by. _6_most people, this person was someone to be_7_as if he didnt exist, a person who they didnt_8_to be bothered with.my friend would_9_say good morning to him and bid him a good day. the_10_would smile back. sometimes, my friend would_11_a dollar or two in his cup as he said hello.this_12_went on for several years until his_13_day on the job before retirement(退休). my friend_14_for a few moments to speak with this man. he told the old man that he would no longer be passing by_15_he would retire the next day.the man took his hand with_16_eyes. he said that he had always looked forward to seeing my friend not because he dropped a few dollars. he said he would _17_my friend because he was one of the few people out of thousands who passed him daily and said hello, and was the_18_one who ever bid him a good day.the man also said that his warm_19_always brightened his day and_20_him to continue on despite being ignored by thousands of people.【解题导语】本文是一篇记叙文。 3a.strong boldcugly dfunnyb解析:根据第四段的he told the old man that. 4a.bag bsigncbook dcupd解析:根据第三段的.my friend would.a dollar or two in his cup as he said hello可知,此处指的是杯子。 7a.cared badmiredcrespected dignoredd解析:根据句中的.as if he didnt exist. 11a.save bpickcdrop dfindc解析:根据倒数第二段的.not because he dropped a few dollars可知,朋友有时也会往杯子里放钱。12a.behavior blessoncadventure dexperiencea解析:
