S: The second one.T: Now please predict what we will learn today.S: Something about language etiquette.(5)Show the “learning strategy” on the screen, explain it in Chinese.The culture of a nation is in its language. It is not enough to only know correct grammar. It is also very important to know how to choose suitable language for every situation.Step 2 Reading 1. Skimming:(1) Ask students to skim the passage, then answer the question: Whats the main idea of the passage?(2) Ask students to match the paragraphs with its main ideas, then check the answers.Para.1 (a) Requests are made in any language.(b) Using certain extra words helps to make language more polite. Scanning:(1) Ask students to look at the screen, scan the passage and judge true or false. If the sentence is false, please correct it:(a) Asking for information or help isnt a very common and necessary activity.(b) In English, we dont need to change the way we speak when we talking with different people.(c) A very direct order can sound rude in English.(d) It might seem that speaking politely is less difficult than being direct.(2) Check the answers.3.
