Use the words and phrases to make the sentences.4.To have a warm-up to know about some gestures and expressions.Cartoon talk1 Give students some time to look at the cartoon on SB 9, page 1. Tell them to read the sentences carefully.2. Meaning of the cartoon: This cartoon draws attebtion to the topic of the main passage by showing us a strage, frightening man. The way you stand and sit and the expression on your face and the eyes can give people an impression.b. Look at the pictures on page 2. What feelings does the girls body language show? Match the words with the pictures.c. Watch a vedioWatch a vedio and say how much you understand.In the early 1900s, the first films were black and white, and there was no sound. We call them silent films. Actors and actresses used body language to tell people what they were acting about. Charles Chaplin was the most famous silent film actor. The following is part of his film named Modern Times. Watch it and try to understand as much as you can.d. Vocabulary Box. Team workDiscuss how to improve your body language?Some ways about how to improve your bodylanguage:1. Dont be afraid to take up some space, sitting or standing with your legs apart a bit.2. Stand up straight. Dont stand too close.3. Pull your shoulders back. Relax your shoulders. 4. Dont slouch(耷拉,低垂), sit up straight.Look straight ahead. 5. Give / Make good eye contact, but dont stare. Maintaining good eye contact shows respect and interest in what they have to say. 6. Keep your head up - Dont keep your eyes on the ground.7. Dont touch your face. 8. If youre a man, when standing, spread your legs to shoulder width and distribute the weight evenly on both legs.9. Try not to cross your arms or legs too much.10. Dont put your hands in your pocket.11. Smile a bit more lighten up, dont take yourself too seriously.12. If youre meeting someone new, dont lean in or back.13. Try to look relaxed at all times.14. Dont look at a woman when she is far away. Get real close and then look at her seductively.15. Lower your drink when drinking. Dont hold your drink in front of your chest. Lower it and hold it beside your leg instead.16. Use your hands more confidently. Use your hands to describe something or to add weight to a point you are trying to make.17. Nod when they are talking nod once in a while to signal that you are listening.18. When you feel nervous, relax your shoulders. 19. Slow down a bit this goes for many things.
