Section A 3a-3c 马腰中学 陈入伍一、学情分析本课是八年级(下)Unit7 Section A中阅读课型,学生在前两课里不仅学习了世界自然地理之最的相关地理数据的表达,而且了解了描述这些地方的比较级和最高级结构。在学习过程中,学生通过模仿口头说出大数字的表达,并用世界自然地理之最的相关信息进行控制性的语言操练,学生也被要求用听到的比较级和最高级结构进行问答练习。学生在经过了大量的听、说、读之后,再转入阅读训练应该说是水到渠成、顺理成章。学生对珠穆朗玛峰山既熟悉又充满神秘感,编者甄选这样一篇文章供学生阅读,能激发出学生的学习和探究热情,会调动学生的学习积极性。一方面让学生了解我国和世界的一些“自然地理之最”中的知识,以中国的世界第一高山为骄傲,更重要的是让学生明白人只有坚持梦想,克服困难,挑战自我,才能实现最终实现梦想。二、活动设计八年级(下)Unit7 Whats the highest mountain in the world? Section A 3a-3c 教学设计一、【教学目标】(一)知识能力1.词汇:achievement, southwestern, thick, include, freezing, condition, take in, succeed, challenge, in the face of, achieve, force, nature, even though2.句型:One of the main reasons is because people want to challenge themselves in the face of difficulties. The spirit of these climbers shows us that we should never give up trying to achieve our dreams.3通过搜寻具体信息,培养寻读得能力。(二)情感态度和价值观了解珠穆朗玛峰及人类克服困难、挑战极限的精神。二、【教学重难点】 1. 重点词汇:achievement, thick, include, condition, succeed, achieve, force, nature2. 重点句型:One of the main reasons is because people want to challenge themselves in the face of difficulties. The spirit of these climbers shows us that we should never give up trying to achieve our dreams.三、【教学准备】 PPT 录音机四、【教学步骤】Step 1. Review - Let Ss talk about four wonders in the world. Whats the biggest desert in the world? Whats the longest river in the world? Whats the deepest of all the salt lakes? Whats the highest mountain in the world? How big/ long/ deep/ high is it?【设计意图】:通过讨论世界地理知识,让学生复习最高级的结构和用大数字表达相应的数字。Step 2. Lead-in- Ask Ss watch the video about The Himalayas - Help them fill the blanks The Himalayas run along(贯穿)the part of China . Of all the mountains,_ rises the highest and is the most famous. It looks like a Pyramid(金字塔).- New word: southwestern【设计意图】:让学生对喜马拉雅山脉和珠穆朗玛峰有直观的了解,为阅读预热。Step 3. Before reading- Let Ss look at the picture and read the title. - Ask: What can you learn from the picture and the title?1.Is it about the dangers or the beauty of Qomolangma? 2.What might be the dangers of mountain climbing in Qomolangma?- Let Ss discuss in groups. Encourage them to add more information.- Some useful expressions: freezing weather conditions have to fight with dangerous animals hard to take air in thick clouds hard to find the way home- Say: Even though it is dangerous, many people try to challenge themselves to achieve their dreams .-Teach new words: freezing, condition, take air in, thick, Even though, challenge, achieve【设计意图】:让学生从图片中找信息,并对标题Qomolangmathe Most Dangerous Mountain in the World? 给出自己的判断,引导学生去读课文。在讨论中为学生扫清一些语言障碍,为更好阅读文本打下基础。Step 4. While reading 1. Skimming - Have Ss look at the box in the top right corner. - Let them discuss What “spirit of climbers”, “achievements of climbers” and “facts and dangers” mean. - Make sure they know the meanings. - Let Ss read the article fast and match each paragraph with the main idea. - Check the answers.【设计意图】:通过快速阅读掌握每个段落的大意。2. ScanningLet Ss read the article carefully and finish the tasks in 3b and 3c - Have Ss look at the table in activity 3b and focus on second row of the table. - Have them note the following before they read the passage again: 1. Which items to focus on 2. How many of each item to look out of 3. Which paragraph to get the information from- Have Ss underline these focal points to make filling in the table easier.- Check the answers.【设计意图】:让学生细读文章,在阅读时关注细节,借助寻读策略,通读全文,快速寻找答案。- Have Ss read Paragraph 3 and look at the questions in activity 3c. 1. Why do so many people try to climb this mountain even though it is dangerous?2. What does the spirit of the climbers tell us? - Let them answer the questions using information from the article. - Check the answers.
