Kindness keeps our world afloat!-Teaching Design for the 5th Period Unit 2 Grade 8 (B)教学执行人:涂静教学对象:2017届7班教学课型:阅读学情分析:教学内容分析:本课时是8年级下册2单元Section B的阅读。根据备课组的统一要求,本册教材各单元的此部分阅读教学分1.5至2个课时完成。要求在教学此类阅读文章时有对学生学习策略的指导,有各种有助于培养学生语篇解读能力、逻辑思维能力的教学形式,要能以阅读文章为载体引发学生的深度思考,注重学生“学以致用”的能力。本课是阅读教学的第一课时,侧重学生对文本的理解、与文本的深度互动,以及由文本引发的深层次的思考。学生情况分析:本班学生整体测试成绩不错,优生整体数量在年级平行班中居多。在常态阅读课思维能力的逐步培养下,大部分学生能够在深入理解文章的基础上对文章引发的观点或事件产生新的理解并作出自己的评价。同时,由于初一阶段对学生语音语调上的重视程度不足,本班大部分学生的口语能力不强。常态课中通常采用第一课时后进行课后思考、写作,第二课时进行观点分享的方式。本堂课设计让学生当堂讨论、现场展示观点,旨在渐进地培养学生的口头表达能力。设计思路:(对深度教学、深度互动的理解及实践) 对于“深度教学、深度互动”以及“让学习真正发生”这两个概念,教师本人在日常的教学实际中的理解为:让学习从学生中来、到学生中去;让学习成为植根于学生内心的一种愿望-能够体会学习的乐趣、能够运用多种学习方法(独立、合作)、能够主动拓宽学习渠道、能够感受学习带来的成就、能够分享学习成果和体会。因此,我们的教与学的目光不应该只锁定课堂的40分钟。学生课前的准备和课后的延伸都非常重要。如何引导学生通过自主或合作的形式进行课前学习、课后延伸学习是本堂课教师关注的重点。 本堂课是阅读关于animal helpers的一篇感谢信。作者感谢对方的捐赠使得自己有了Lucky这样一条给予自己很大帮助的狗。文章可以让我们在人与人的互助互惠上有更深层次的思考,即帮助别人快乐自己。鉴于在本单元前期的教学中(特别是Section A3a)已经对以上情感目标进行了深入的讨论和升华,本课教师将目标定位在人与动物之间的互助互惠上,即Kindness can float between human beings and animals. 要完成以上目标,教材中的一篇感谢信的阅读输入是不够的,更多的输入可以来自课前和课后。课前,教师布置学生以小组为单位完成“our animal helpers”为主题的课前阅读。学生小组合作通过网站、报纸等渠道收集围绕主题的文章和图片,通过文档、PPT的形式呈现收集内容。(由于学生层次的差异,该作业设计为小组作业,有利于学生之间的相互帮助、资源共享。保证层次最弱的学生至少能阅读一篇小组成员提供的阅读文章)之后,教师检查各小组完成的作业情况,选择优秀的作业,作为课堂bonus reading 的素材。(这是对优秀作品的肯定,也是对其余学生的激励。有助于形成自主拓展阅读的班级学习氛围)课后,学生对课堂未处理完的bonus reading进行阅读,也可以通过更多的渠道拓展学习时空。各小组可以进一步优化课前的小组作业,通过presentation的形式在全班范围展示小组学习的成果。 总之,本课力求采用生生互动、师生活动、师生与资源互动等各种方式,通过课前、课中、课后的围绕主题的学习,实现学习主体的交流、碰撞、提升,拓展学习的时空,让“学习真正发生“。附:学生小组作业呈现情况教学目标:1. 知识目标:认识并理解词汇disabled, blind, deaf, difficulty, trained, kindness的含义, 掌握以上词汇的词性,并能较熟练地运用。2. 能力目标:能够读懂感谢信,在读懂作者为何感谢、如何感谢的基础上,对信中表达的感情有自己更深层次的理解和体会。3. 情感目标:通过公益广告和本单元前期课时加深对Kindness keeps our world afloat!的理解;通过对教材文章的阅读和bonus reading 的阅读,感受动物(animal helpers)流向人类的kindness,反思人类对待动物的种种残酷行为,生发make the kindness float towards the animals的思想。4. 策略目标:通过对未知单词词性的推测,从而理解新词含义; 在时间有限的情况下选择自己感兴趣的阅读材料,可以通过浏览标题和图片的方式。教学方法:由层层深入的问题驱动下的,以教师为主导、学生为主体的深度互动、深度思维的英语阅读教学方法。板书设计: Kindness keeps our world afloat! disabled adj. able adj - unable adj. Write an article to show your opinion “How can we make kindness float to animals?”附: Bonus Reading Treo The bomb-sniffing search dog I want this item to represent all animals used for warfare and by the authorities, but rather than try to sum up all the brave military animals I will concentrate on one case: Treo, the bomb sniffing search dog. In the UK Treo has recently been on the news for winning the Dickin Medal award, which is the animal equivalent(相当的) of the Victoria Cross (which is the British equivalent of the Medal of Honor). A total of 26 other dogs, 32 World War Two messenger pigeons(鸽子), three horses and one cat have won the award, introduced by PDSA founder Maria Dickin in 1943.Treo sniffed out two hidden bombs in Helmand province, potentially saving many lives, and is now at eight years old taking a well-deserved retirement. His handler, Sgt David Heyhoe, has worked with him for 5 years and Treo is now the family pet. Gorilla Stops Boy from being attackedOn August 16 1996 in the Brookfield Zoo, a 3 year old boy fell into a Gorilla enclosure(围场) and lost consciousness(意识). Binti Jua a female Lowland Gorilla, guarded the young boy from the other Gorillas in the enclosure, she then cradled him in her arm (while her own 17 month old baby was on her back) and carried him 60 feet to an entrance where zoo-keepers could retrieve him.This isnt an isolated case, on August 31 1986 at Jersey Zoo a 5 year old boy fell into a Gorilla enclosure and lost consciousness, a large male Gorilla named Jambo stood guard over the boy not allowing any of the others to come near, when the boy woke up and started crying all of the Gorillas backed off and zoo-keepers (along with an ambulance) were able to retrieve him safely.Dolphins Save surfer from sharkOn one hot August day, Todd Endris, 24 year old owner of Monterey Aquarium services decided to go surfing with some friends. While surfing, a 15 foot shark appeared. The shark tried to bite him but could not get its jaws around both
