Then show the pictures of the six works in 1a, and lead students to be familiar with the English name of the works.Step 2 Look at the picture in 1a. Have you read these books? Check () the ones you know.Step 3 Offer some information about the booksAlice in Wonderland: it is by Lewis Carroll, an English writer. The book is about Alice, a young girl who falls through a rabbit hole and gets transported to another land where she meets characters like the Cheshire Cat, the Mad Hatter, the March Hare and the Queen of Hears.Little Women: it is by Lousia May Alcott, an American writer. This details the lives of the four March sisters, Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy, as they grow from teens into young women.Treasure Island: it is by Robert Louis Stevenson, a Scottish writer. After discovering a map, young Jim Hawkins begins his quest for buried treasure and has to evade pirates along the way.Oliver Twist: it is by Charles Dickens, an English writer. The story is about an orphan named Oliver Twist, his name at an orphanage and then with a group of pickpockets on the streets of London, and his eventual adoption by a gentleman.Robinson Crusoe: it is by Daniel Defoe, an English writer. Shipwrecked on a desert island, Robinson Crusoe lived off the land for 35 years. During that time, he saved another man, who he named Friday, from cannibals.Tom Sawyer: it is by Mark Twain, an American writer. The story is about the antics of Tom Sawyer, a young orphan boy living on the banks of the Mississippi River.Step 4 Listening and speaking 1. Scan the content in 1b, and then complete the chart.(Tips: number the books and its easy to finish the chart)2. Check the answers, and try to answer in sentences: e.g: Nick hasnt read Treasure Island. Judy has read Treasure Island, and its exciting3. Practice the conversation. Then talk about the other books in 1a. A: Have you read Little Women yet? B: No, I havent. Have you?
