Aims on the knowledge(1) To help students master the new words and phrases: push, crazy, football, quick, skill, cause, usual, compete, typical, training, continue, compare, stress, development, cut out, compare.with, in ones opinion.(2) To help students learn some skills of listening, speaking and reading.2. Aims on the abilities(1) To improve students abilities of speaking and reading such as skimming and scanning.(2) To develop students abilities of studying by themselves and cooperating with their partners.3. Aims on the emotion(1) To develop students consciousness of cooperation and proper competition.(2)To help students learn to face to stress bravely and learn to lower their stress. Teaching Importance and Difficulty: The importance includes new words and new phrases.The difficulty is about how to train students reading skills and ability to express their opinions.Teaching and Learning Methods: Ill use Task-based teaching approach to organize my teaching. Students will learn new words and phrases in some real situations. They will be given many chances to cooperate with their partners to complete the tasks.Teaching Means: Multimedia, PPT, Formative EvaluationTeaching Procedures:Step 1 Warming upGreeting. Dividing students into three groups.Step 2 Pre-reading Lead-in &Presentation(1)Show some pictures and present the new words and phrases(push, crazy, football, quick, skill, cause, usual, compete, typical, training, continue, compare, stress, development, cut out, compare.with, in ones opinion).(2)Guess a boys problem according to one picture, then lead in the article Maybe You Should Learn to Relax.Step 3 While-reading Reading &Passing Skimming (1)Read quickly and silently to find out the main idea of the article. (2)Match the main idea with each paragraph. Scanning (1)Read the 1st paragraph aloud and answer the questions. (2)Try to guess the meaning of “compete”by using the context. (3)Read the 2nd paragraph and fill in the blanks. (4)Learn to use the context to guess the meanings of “typical”and“training”. (5)Share answers with their partners. Tips for students: Using the context means reading the sentences before and after new words. Detailed reading (1)Read while listening. Listen to Para3& Para4 and match the words with their meanings by using the context. (2)Cooperative learning time. Students discuss the four words with their group members and solve them together. (3)Present the new words (stress,continue,compare,development) in four sentences. Students read the words after the teacher, and then they read the sentences together. (4)Students show their answers. Lets enjoy reading (1)Students read the whole passage and circle the useful words and phrases in their mind. (2)Game:Who has the best memory? Students stand up and say out the words quickly according to the Chinese. (3)Competition:Students can use any word or phrase to make one sentence, but if someone uses one, they cant use the same one. One correct sentence, one score for their group.Step 4 Post-reading (1)Students watch a video “tiger mothers” (2)Students have a discussion. They share their opinions on after-school activities with their partners. Step 5 Summary(1)Sweet advice. Help students learn to face to stress and learn to lower their stress.(2)To see which group is the winner.Step 6 Homework(1)Review the reading text in this lesson.(2)Finish the composition on the paper.Blackboard DesignUnit 4 Why dont you talk to your parents?Section B R
