Warming-up and Lead-in1. Greet the Ss. 2. Watch a video program about the weather. Step. Presentation 1. (Show some pictures of the weather) Let Ss look at the pictures and ask them how the weather is. Ss learn the new words and expressions with the help of the pictures. 2. Practise the sentence.3.(Show some pictures of the weather in different cities)Let Ss look at the pictures and ask them how the weather is in Beijing/Moscow/Toronto/Shanghai/Boston.Step 3 work on 1a1.Look at the pictures in 1a. Then read the new words on the right. 2. Ask students to match the words with the pictures. 3. Check the answers. Step 4. Listening1b. Listen and write these city names in the boxes above.1. Lets look at the city names in the box in 1b. Please read after me. Ss read the cities after the teacher. 2.Now, Well hear four conversations. Listen carefully, point out each city in the picture as it comes upon the tape. Play the recording a second time. Ask Ss to write the name of the city in the picture of its weather. 3.Check the answers.Step 5. Pair work1c. Imagine you are in one of the places. Talk about the weather with your partner. 1.Make a model with a student like this:A: Hows the weather in the Beijing?B: Its sunny. 2. Ss work in pairs. Ask and answer about the weather in the cities.Step 6.Work on 2a1.Lets see what Lindas families are doing. Point to the 4 pictures.2.Ask students to tell each person is doing in each picture. More attentions should be paid to the correct use of the Present Progressive Tense.3.Play the recording for the students to listen and number the pictures1-4.4.Check the answers.Step 7.Work on 2bPlay the recording for the students to listen and match the names with the activities.Step 8.Brainstorming (2c)1.Let the students read the listening materials in pairs.Then do a memory test.Ask Ss: Whats Uncle Joe/Jeff/Mary/Aunt Sally doing ? Is Jeff watching TV?2.Students work in pairs.Step 9 Challenge the hostShow a map of China.
