The topic of this period is legends and stories. It will arise students interest in learning it. Through a play of a fairy tale, we will ask our students to learn how to tell a story in our own words. Through the reading of Hansel and Grete, It can also improve the students ability of reading comprehension and writing skills. Analysis of the studentsThe students have learned English for one and a half years, they can express their thought and communicate with each other in English well.Teaching aimsKnowledgeAims1. Free-talk:2.Play a part of cartoon to review a fairy tale learned before.T:Boys and girls , do you like watching TV? Do you want to watch TV now ?Lets enjoy a short video .2. Show some pictures of other cartoons to lead the Ss to the new lesson.T:Lets do a guessing game3.Introduce three levels of the reading game and the game rules to the students.Ss:Yes, I do.(watch the video happily.)Ss Look at the pictures and some key words to guess the name of these fairy tales. They can discuss them with your partners .This activity can arise students interest in learning the fairy tale. This activity gives Ss a chance to discuss in pairs, and make them know more about fairy tales.Step 2 Pre-reading (Level 1)1. Have students find out the text type. (Activity 1)2. Introduce some language features of the play.3. (Activity 2:Answer the questions) Ask students to read the whole play and then answer the questions.Step 3 While-reading (Level two)1. Students read through the play and match each description with the correct scene. (Activity 3)2. Check the answers.3.(Activity 4:Careful Reading)a.Ask the Ss to read the Para.1 and answer the questions.b.Ask the Ss read the play again and know the plot(剧情), then complete the mind map according to the play.Ss look through the passage . Think about : What kind of text is it ?.Ss read the play quickly and answer the questions .Ss:Scan the play, get the main idea of each scene, and thenread the whole play to get more information .Ss read the play again and complete the mind map.This activity can help Ss know some reading strategies.This activity can improve Ss reading skills, and it can also help them to get the key information of this play.This activity gives Ss practice in understanding the target language in spoken conversation.This activity uses the mind map to help Ss to get key information from the play.Step 4 Post-reading (Level three)1. Students act out the play in groups of six. They can use either the dialogues in the play or their own words.(Activity5)2. Retell the story. Students complete the summary of the play and then retell the story . (Activity6)3. Students retell the story and present themselves.Step 5 Summary andHomework1.Educate Ss to be a brave and wise person.2.Homework: Imagine you are a writer, please write the finale of the story and adapt it into the play. Afterwards, teacher organizes students to perform the play.Ss try to act out the play and then retell the play.Ss listen to the teacher carefully.Throughacting out the play, it can help Ss to consolidate the target language.
