Unit5 Why do you like pandas?Section APeriod1学情分析Students are interested in learning how to name the animals and describe animals by looking at so many vivid pictures on the screen. Much information about animals can arouse their curiosity. And they are willing to use Why/What/Where questions to talk about animals in all kinds of class activities.教学目标Teaching aims: Master the key words and phrases: tiger, elephant, koala, panda, lion, giraffe, cute, lazy, smart, beautiful, scary, kind, kind of, Australia, south, Africa, animal, zoo Learn the sentences: 1. Lets see the lions. Why do you like them? Because theyre interesting.2. Where are they from? They are from South Africa.Develop students listening and speaking skills.Raise interest of knowing about different kinds of animals and love and protect them.重点难点Key points and difficult points: 1.Master the key words and expressions in this period. 2. Learn to describe the animals, express preferences and give reasons.3. Make conversations using the key structures.4. Develop students listening and speaking skills.Teaching Methods:Pairwork; Groupwork; Picture-talkingTeaching Aids: A tape recorder; A computer for multimedia use; Some pictures.教学过程Teaching procedures:Step 1 Warming upLead in the topic by singing an English song Old Macdonald Had a Farm. Play the video on the screen. And students sing the song together.T: Boys and girls, what animals can you see in the video?S1: I can see cows.S2: I can see ducks.T: OK. Today well learn more animals. If we want to see animals, where shall we go?S: Well go to the zoo. T: OK. Follow me,“zoo”. Today Ill take you to the zoo to see animals.Step 2Presentation1. Present the names of animals by showing pictures on the screen.Show pictures of tigers, pandas, elephants, lions, koalas and giraffes. Play the sound of them.Students read the words after teacher and spell them. Write down the names of animals on the blackboard.(Ask students to pay attention to the key phrase: an elephant.) 2. Practice reading the words. Show students pictures of animals in teachers hands. Check students if they can say out the animals names after teacher shows them.3. Learn some description words by showing more pictures and talking about animals. Present the new words:lazy, beautiful, shy, cute, scaryExample:T: What do you think of pandas?S: They are cute.Then students read these words together.4. Complete 1a. Let students look at the picture of the zoo. Then match the words with the animals in the picture.Choose some students to match them and then check the answers.Step 3 Practice1.
