Unit 4 Why dont you talk to your parents?Section A (1a-2c)一、教学目标: 1. Knowledge aims(语言知识目标):1)Master the new words:allow, wrong, guess, midnight, stay up late, get into a fight with, have a fight with.Master the new sentence patterns:He got into a fight with his best friend. Whats wrong? Im really tried because I studied until midnight last night. Why dont you go to sleep earlier this evening?2. Ability aims(能力目标):1) Can use the knowledge to talk about the problems and difficulties which we have metin our daily life and can give some advice.2) Can give some appropriate advice to sb. (1)能够运用所学知识谈论问题和困难、提出建议并做出选择; (2)能根据对方所提出的问题,给出一些合理的建议。3. Emotion aims(情感态度价值观目标): 1) stimulate and develop students good sense of communication and cooperation培养学生良好的合作意识。2) Encourage students to express their ideas bravely,鼓励学生大胆表达自己的想法和意愿Can face the problems and difficulties in our daily life bravely and can solve them correctly正确认识生活中的一些困难,能采用正确的方式解决生活中的问题。二、教学重难点1.Teaching key points(教学重点):1) Talk about the problems. 2) Learn the new language points.2. Teaching difficult points(教学难点):1) Can use the knowledge to talk about the problems and difficulties which we have met in our daily life and can give some advice能根据对方所提出的问题,给出一些合理的建议。 2) Can give some appropriate advice to somebody学会表达建议的一些方式。Teaching procedures:Step I. Warming upUse a picture of a girl doing homework at home to lead in our topic:T:First, Ill introduce a girl to you. She is a middle school student like you. She is Mary. She is a lovely and beautiful girl. But these days, she is unhappy. Whats the matter with her? Can you guess? T: Whats the matter / Whats wrong with her? Ss: She has too much homework to do. She has to study at home.T: Yes. Maybe she has too much homework to do or she has to study at home. Does she like to do it?S1:No, she doesnt. Because she cant go out or play with her friends.T: OK, good. She has too much homework to do or has to study at home, so she cant go out or play with her friends or do something she likes. Maybe thats why she is unhappy, do you think so? Ss: Yes.T: In our daily life, we may meet this problem. What other problems do you meet?S2:I cant watch TV.S3: Im poor in Math. T: We may meet many problems in our daily life. Now, look at these people. What kind of problems do they meet?Step II:Present some pictures on the screen. Then ask the students to answer whats the matter with the persons according to the pictures.呈现一些图片,先让学生根据所提供的短语来回答他们图片上的人物遇到了什么难题,然后对其中出现的新短语进行教读,让学生熟悉并加深印象。然后,通过图片的回放,老师问:“Whats the matter?” 学生来回答,以检测学生是否熟悉并记住了这些短语。List the sentences on the screen: I have to study too much so I dont get enough sleep. I have too much homework so I dont have any free time to do things I like. My parents dont allow me to hang out with my friends. I have too many after-school classes. I got into a fight with my best friend.Teach the students to read them, and make sure they can read them smoothly and correctly. Ask some students to read them to check if they can read the sentences correctly.Step III. Listening 1. Listen and circle the problems you hear in 1a.Check answers.2. Then ask the students to look at the listening material. Read it and then find out the sentences of giving advice. Later, ask one or two students to show the sentences.Then ask them to summarize the sentence patterns of giving advice.Step IV. Pair work. 1.Ask the students to discuss the problems and use the sentence patterns to give some advice.Then ask some students to show their advice.2.Show a sample in1c. Then let the students read the conversation.Sample: A: Whats wrong?B: Im really tired because I studied until midnight last night.A: Why dont you go to sleep earlier this evening?Then make a conversation with the problems and the advice they have discussed in 1a. Ask the students to make conversations like that. Then let some pairs act out their conversations. Example:A: Whats wrong?B:My parents dont allow me to hang out with my friends.A: Why not read some interesting books at home?A: Whats wrong?B:I have too many after-school classes.A:Why not? Why dont you? You could/should Step V. Listening 1. Work on 2a: T: Peter has some problems. What advice does his friend give him? Fill in the blanks with could or should. 1). Let the students read the sentences in 2a. 2). Play the recording for the students.Let them listen to the tape and fill in the blanks with could or should. 3). Play the recording again to check the answers.2. Work on 2b: 1). Let them read the sentences below. Explain some main sentences for the students. Make sure they know the meaning of each sentence. 2). Listen again and write the letters (a-e) next to the advice in 2a. 3). Play the recording again to check the answers. Answers: 1. d 2. e 3. a 4. c 5. b 3. Listen again and fill in the blanks on the paper you have got. Then ask some students to give their answers and listen again to check answers.Peter had a _ with his best friend. B: I had a fight with my best friend. What should I do? A: Well, you should call him so that you can say youre sorry. B: But I dont want to talk about it on the phone. 2. Read the conversation after the teacher. 3
