Greetings.Step II Presentation.1. Learn the new words in 1a with pictures on the screen. T: Hello, boys and girls! Whats this in English? Whats this in English?(Show a picture of” restaurant”)Ss: Its a restaurant.( Help students answer and teach the word a few times.)T:Is there a restaurant near your house?Ss: Yes, there is. Its on.Learn words post office, police, police station, hotel, restaurant, bank, hospital, street, pay, pay phone in the same way.2. Learn prepositions like this: T: Look, everyone! Where is the girl? (Show a picture on the screen)SS: Its next to the giraffe. ( Help ss. to answer and write next to on the blackboard, teach ss. a few times)T: Look, Mary is next to Bob in our class. And Im next to the teachers desk. (Encourage students to guess the meaning of “next to”.)Learn other prepositions: in front of, behind, across from in the same way.( To learn the prepositions with the pictures on the screen, to understand these new words better.) Step3 Practice.1. Ask a group of students to stand on the platform, and ask students : Where s.? ( To review the prepositions)2. Exercise.Task1: Activity 1a Have students look at the pictures in 1a, and match the words with the places in 1a.Task2: listen to the tape, finish 1b.Task3: Make conversations about the places in 1a.A: Is there a.near here?B: Yes, there is./ No, there isnt. Its onStreet.Task 4: Activity 2a and 2b.Have students watch the pictures in 2a carefully and match the sentences with the pictures, then check the answer with whole class. Then, encourage students to just look at the pictures in 2a and try to express the location of the pay phone one by one.( To make students use these prepositions freely)Then listen to the tape and finish2b.Step 4 Consolidation.Activity2c.Work in pair Have students ask and answer questions about the places in 1a on page 43. Try to use: Excuse me! Can I help you? or Can you help me? To begin their conversations.Then ask some pairs to show their conversations. ( Make students use the target language freely.)Step5 Summary. In this period, we have learnt some vocabulary about places and prepositions.
