Analysis of the students(学情分析): After learning English for several years, students have the ability to read a little long context and get information from the text. Students have a little understanding of this lesson as they are required to prepare it before class. However, students dont have the ability to get information from a long context in a short time. So this lesson will develop their reading skills, especially the fast-reading skills. Besides, the skills of speaking and writing can also be developed.II. Analysis of teaching material(教材分析):Ahead of this unit, the students have learned how to describe and analyze a person in Unit5 Book1, Nelson Mandela - a modern hero. Therefore, it is easy for them to understand the general idea of the text. This text mainly tells us the story of a great woman scientist named Jane Goodall. This lesson is the third period of the unit and the text is the most important teaching material in this lesson, which extends the main topic “Women of Achievement” and contains most of the vocabulary and grammar points that students should learn in this unit.III. Teaching aims(教学目标):1. Knowledge aims(知识与技能):To understand the main idea; to scan for the needed information.2. Ability aims(方法与过程):To develop students listening, speaking reading and writing abilities; to master the fast-reading skills of scanning and skimming; to help students use their own words to express their ideas; to describe a person and write it down.3. Emotion aims(情感态度价值观):To learn from Jane Goodalls great devotion spirits and to increase the awareness of protecting the wild.1. 了解课文大意,能简要概括出段落大意。通过一系列活动,提高学生的听说读写能力,掌握速读技巧。2. 通过小组合作探究和讨论的方法,引导学生完成各项学习探究任务,从而掌握本文。3. 学习简古道尔的牺牲奉献精神,以及她的坦诚、谦虚、考虑周到等优秀品质;培养学生热爱大自然的思想感情。IV. Teaching key points and difficult points(重难点):Based on the above analysis, the important point is how to understand the passage better. The difficult point is how to develop students reading ability.教学重点:理解整篇文章,总结段落大意。教学难点:掌握阅读技巧,提高阅读能力。V.Teaching methods(教学方法):Cooperative method; Group discussion; Task-Based method.合作探究,小组讨论,任务型教学法VI. This film turned out to be a smashing success as she won an Oscar as Best Actress. One of her most radiant roles was My Fair Lady in 1964.
