8B Unit6 Reading 1丹徒实验学校 赵美筌Teaching aims:1.Knowledge aims:(1) To master the pronunciation and meanings of some useful words and phrases, e.g. group, tough, hike trail, within, hill, mountain, excellent, chance,spirit,team, spirit,record,of course, training(2) To have a general idea about Oxfam Trailwalker, e.g. What is it? When and where is it held every year? Why is it held? Who can join it?2.Ability aims:The students(1)Can guess the general idea by reading the passage(2)Can catch the key points to answer some detailed questions(3)Can read the passage fluently andcomplete some exercises about the passage3.Emotion aims:To encourage students to discuss how to help the people in need and try to organize a charity walk if possible.Main points:As the knowledge aims say, and try to read and understand the meaning of each paragraph, learn how to read a passage by skimming, scanning and digesting. Then encourage the SS to learn more about Oxfam trailwalker by searching the home page on the internet or more information about blogs.Difficult points:By reading the passage ,SS can say something about Oxfam Trailwalker and try to retell it according to the flow chart.Teaching aids:Multi-media computer, Tape recorder, Powerpoints.Teaching Methods:1. Communicative teaching method2. Audio-visual teaching method3. Task-based” teaching methodTeaching procedures:Step 1: Revision and lead-inReview some people who need help, and ask the SS how to help them. Then say we can join a charity to lead in the Oxfam, present the logo and ask:What does the logo look like? Help them to give the answer:It looks like four people walking together. Then present a picture about an Oxfam trailwalk to learnt something about the event.Step2 Pre-reading1. Present the new words and check the pronunciation of each.(SB Page 96 B1),ask one student to give his/her answer, then read the words together.2.Listen to the tape after presenting two questions:(1)How much money does each team raise?(2)What is the money used to do?Ask two SS to give their answersStep3 Fast reading1.Go through the passage quickly and tick T or F, if it is F, try to correct it.2. Check the answers.Step4 While-readingRead for details(answer the following questions) by showing some picturesParagraph 11what is Oxfam Trail Walker?2Where is it held?3Whatisits aim ?4Who can join the charity walk?Paragraph 21.Is Trailwalker a tough hike ?Why ?2.How many country parks will they walk through ?3.How many hills and mountains will they walk over ?Paragraph3What do they have to do before and during the walk?
