Instructional design丹城第二中学 英语 盛萍萍1. Analysis of teaching materialThe language goal of this unit is about asking for and giving directions on the street. Ss are familiar with this topic. The passage is not very difficult for ss to understand in general, however, some phrases may increase the difficulty of comprehension such as in front of, across from2. Analysis of learnersAs middle school students, they have learned something about “ Where” “Is there?” . Their previous knowledge can help them understand the passage better. But they may not fully know how to give and ask for directions. Before that, we need to learn how to express or describe the directions.Ss in this class love to air their opinion and are more likely to be activated by discussion and games.3. Learning objectivesAt the end of the class, ss will be able to:Knowledge and skills(1) say out and use words about places such as post office, police station, hotel, restaurant, across from, behind(2) simply express how to ask and answer about places such as “where/Isthere?”Process and methods(1) learn autonomously and cooperatively in various activities(2) develop the cognitive strategy of comprehending the topic through non-verbal pictures(3) usage of “pad”Emotion attitude and values(1) let ss learn about places we often use in life and know its functions4. Language focuses and anticipated difficultiesLanguage focuses(1) words about places: post office, police station, bank. Hospital, across from(2) sentences about how to ask and answer about places:-Is there a hospital near here?-Yes, there is./No, there isnt.Anticipated difficultiesHow to ask and answer questions about places accurately.5. Teaching procedureActivity 1: Picture showing-Where is it?-Its aT: OK, lets play a guessing game. Please guess where it is?Activity 2: Guessing game(1) We use it to call others but its not free.(2) (3) (4) (5) (6) We can sleep there, but we have to pay money.T: Now, lets turn to page 43. Please finish 1a. Activity 3: 1aSs: (answer like this) There is ain picture f.T: In this picture, peter and Bob are talking. Lets see what they ar talking about. Now lets come to 1b.Activity 4: 1bSs: (answer like this) I can hear A, B, C and D.T: So, this is a neighborhood. We have the post officein the neighborhood. What about my neighborhood? Lets find differences between picture A and picture B. Lets guess who has picture A and who has picture B.
