Section B (2a-2e)Teaching AimsCriteriaNotes1.The main task (Outcome)The students will be able to understand the history of Mickey and the reasons why a little Mickey became a symbol of American culture.这是本节课学生的预期主目标。文本语言呈现和阅读分析都为此铺垫。2.Language Focus 1)The students will be able to read and use the following words properly: culture, famous,appear, become-became, rich,successful, might, main, reason, common, film,unlucky, lose, ready, simple ;2) The students will be able to read the following two words: girlfriend, character ;3) The students will be able to use the following useful expressions: think of , come out, one of the main reasons, be ready to, try ones best, such as.文本词汇多,实行分散教学,个别词有所侧重些。有些带下,还需课后练习。3.Language Skills1) The students will be able to get the history of Mickey Mouse to grow stronger through completing the time line;2) The students will be able to know more about the reasons why a cartoon Mickey become a symbol of American culture through careful reading.1)了解卡通片在美国文化中的作用以及美国著名卡通片和米老鼠等卡通形象2)学生能学会通过寻找dates and facts等获取文本重要信息等。4.Learning Strategies Students will be able to get some information(e.g. the dates )through scanning without reading word by word or paragraph by paragraph. 本文本是一篇训练scanning 的好材料。5.AffectionThe students will learn that a little man can be a great/ big man if he or she can face any difficulties.学生通过阅读能认识到“小人物也能成就大事”。6.CultureThe students will get to know that different countries have different cultures.借助语篇让学生了解西方国家的文化。Difficulties The students might find it difficult to remember so many Words and phrases.文本的新词和结构较多,农村学生接受能力可能有限,还需要课后早读时多读多练多记!Procedures & ActivitiesTeaching Procedures & ActivitiesLearning Procedures & ActivitiesNotesI. Warming upEnjoy a video about Monkey King and Doraemon. Ask :Do you like watchingcartoon movies/ films? What cartoon characters appear in the video?The Students learn some new words such as film, character, main, famous,appear. And they can feel relaxed and get ready for the English class .通过读前播放小视频,使学生放松精神,消除陌生感和紧张感。另外,视频里的一些动画人物也引出部分新词。II. Pre-reading1) Talk about a topic about “a symbol of .culture” to lead in Mickey Mouse. 2) Get Ss to read the picture to get more facts about Mickey through answering some questions.1) Ss learn the new word “culture” by communicating with the teacher.2) Ss can get some facts about Mickey in the passage. Culture是文本导入的一个切入点,这个环节把前面视频的两个动画人物也切入进来,自然过渡到Mickey is a symbol of American culture.III. While readingTask1 Match the main idea Get Ss to match the main idea of each paragraph .Task2 Finish the time lineLet Ss complete the time line by reading paragraph1 and the last paragraph. And teach some new words and phrases by showing some pictures and communicating with Ss.Task3 Underline the reasons Get Ss to read Paragraph 2 to find the reasons why Mickey became so popular and teach some new words and useful expressions.Task1 Ss read the whole passage to choose the main idea of each paragraph quickly.Task2Ss write down the dates and facts about the time line and learn some new words and phrases.Task3Ss read the paragraph to find out the reasons 读中环节主要设了3个大的任务:整体阅读把握文本每一段的大意;细节阅读主要是通过文本中的时间线索训练学生的略读技能,也适当进行改编和深挖。通过这个环节,预设学生能理解Mickey的成长历程,以及背后的原因。IV. Post-readingTask1 DiscussAsk: Do you think Mickey is a truly little man? Do you want to be like him?Task2 Fill in the blanks with some phrases we learned today (2e)Task3 Give a title Get Ss to discuss to give a good title for the passage and choose the best title for it from the titles they get at last .Finally, ask Ss who Mickey should thank?Task1Ss answer the questions Task2Ss fill in the blanksTask 3Discuss in groups to give a title and talk about the reasons why you choose it.读后环节先让学生对文本中的“little man”进行思辨,任务2尝试让学生在语境中运用2e中的词汇,任务3是尝试让学生给文本取个title.以及大家讨论那些标题是最好的。最后以问Mickey 应该感谢谁,让学生领悟 the man behind Mickey的深层含义。V.
