5A Unit 6 Architecture1. Listen and say: Building a houseTeaching plan 大沥镇海北小学-伍国仪*Teaching content:*Teaching aims:1. Ss will understand the concept of “architecture”. He or she masters that there are different branches of “architecture”, such as temple, bridge, castle and so on.2. Ss are able to describe the architecture by its features, materials, function and construction through the learning of the text.3. The students will use the recycling sources to make their favorite architecture, which will not only have fun, but also feel the charm of the architecture.4. Improve the students dialectical logic. They will know if they can reuse some wastes, they can protect the environment. And that can improve the environmental protection awareness.*Teaching aids:PPT Some architecture handiwork pictures*Teaching scene:The teaching scene will be divided into two main parts.In the first part, T and Ss will learn the story of Yoyo.In the second part, the students will make their favorite architecture by their own.*Teaching activities:#Lead-in activity (The concept of “architecture”):Present a photo then let Ss talk about what they can see in the picture.Lead the students to know the branches of the architecture. The students will master the word “architecture” and they can also talk about their favorite architecture.#Integrated Activity ( Get into the sceneBuilding a house)Firstly, Ss have already learned the knowledge of this units lesson2 and 3, because T has already integrated the text of this unit. So Ss master the features of famous architecture. Secondly, according to the text, T will let Ss guess what the characters doing now. Then Ss will listen to the text. Thirdly, T will ask 4 questions to let Ss discuss in groups and answer. Through the questions, Ss will notice 4 aspects of this house which is good to them to describe their house later. Then T will circle the key words to let the Ss focus on the main aspects.Lastly, Ss may master by seeing the mind map on the PPT. The mind map can help the students to say something about the features, function, construction and materials of the architecture.1 2 3 4#Thematic Activities (Make Yoyos house better)After the integrated activity, the students have deeply known Yoyos house than before. In this time, Ss may notice that this house is not perfect. As an unusual house, its too simple.T may ask them that actually they havent finished their house yet. Please help them to make the house perfect. With this question, Ss can discuss in the group and tell their good suggestions.# Explorative Activity 2 (Students demonstration of making and describing their architecture)Actually, T has given the demonstration to the Ss that how to describe one architecture. They can notice their features, materials, function and construction and then use their own words to talk about their architecture. In this time Ss may review what they have learned. Meanwhile, the students can cooperate with each other in groups and use the own word to present their ideas. The preparation time is about 5 minutes. Then every group will show their architecture and describe one by one.#Extensive Activity (Reusing is a good way to protect our world)After describing their architecture, T may let the Ss focus on their architectures materials. T may ask that look at our super architecture, they were rubbished but now they are our perfect architecture. T will show some useless things and let the Ss guess what it will become if they are reused. In this way, T may improve students environmental protection awareness which also improve the students dialect
