Help Ss master the sentence patterns and use them to describe the pictures, such as: The elephant is drinking. The kangaroos are jumping. Etc.3. Help Ss use English to communicate with each other in daily life.4. Arouse Ss consciousness of protecting animals and being friendly to them.Teaching key points:1. Ss can grasp the four-skill words.2. Ss can use the sentences: Oh, Fido is sleeping. Theyre playing with each other.Teaching difficulties:1. Ss can use “is” and “are” correctly.2. Ss can master and use the grammar of the present progressive tense.Teaching proceduresStep I. Warm-up1. Lets doT: It is the first time for us to meet with each other. Today Im your new English teacher, Miss Yu. I hope you can enjoy this class and have a magic English trip. First Lets warm up our bodies. Lets do together.2. Free talkT: There are four seasons in a year. Which season do you like best?S1: Summer.T: Why?S1: I can go swimming and eat ice cream.T: How about you, S2? Which season do you like best?S2: I like T: Do you know which season Miss Yu likes best? Please guess.S1: I think summer is your favorite season.S2: I think(Play the sound of the birds)T: I like spring best. I can hear the birds singing. I can see the beautiful flowers. Today lets go for a spring outgoing. Here we go!3. Lets blow up the balloons.(Show the picture of the zoo) T: How many animals do you know? S: Dog, cat, tiger, monkey T: Wow, you know so many animals. Lets blow up the two balloons. And you can see many animals names in them.设计意图:教师用Lets do 作为课堂热身的第一个活动,这一活动的目的在于复习jump、walk、run、fly等动词的同时,让孩子们在动身体的过程中放松心情,带着轻松愉悦的心情进入英语课堂。接着根据孩子们刚学的知识谈论最喜欢的季节入手,拉进与孩子们的心灵距离。通过让孩子们猜教师自己最喜欢的季节,以及鸟声的出现,导入本节课的课堂情境去动物园春游。在热身的最后环节,通过吹爆气球,复习动物名称。Step II. Presentation(Play the sound of babys crying)T: Whats wrong? Who is crying?( Show the picture of a crying baby cat, and the cat says, “Where is my mum?”)T: We are helpful. Lets help baby cat find her mum.Ss: OK. Follow us. Lets help you.T: Look, what is Mr. Dog doing?Ss: He is eating. (Practice eateating, one by one)S1,S2: Look at the dog. It is eating. Eating, eating, the dog is eating.S3, S4: Look at the dog. It is eating. Eating, eating, the dog is eating. Use the similar way to teach: drinking, climbing, sleeping, jumping and playing.The baby cat meets Mr. Elephant, Mr. Monkey, Mr. Bear, Mr. Kangaroos The elephant is drinking. The monkey is climbing. The bear is sleeping. The kangaroos are jumping and playing.Finally, baby cat find her mum. Baby cat: Mum, here I am. What are you doing, mum? Mummy cat: Come here, my baby. We are playing with each other.Ask Ss to practice the above dialogue. T lays emphasis on Ss pronunciation of “playing with each other”.设计意图:教师以baby cat的哭声,引出了帮助baby cat 找妈妈这一课堂主线。在找妈妈的过程中,Baby cat 询问途中遇到的一些小动物,他们正在干什么,一一呈现了本节课的目标词汇。并且让学生在教师示范领读后,谈论图片内容来及时巩固词汇,且能用完整的句子表达。这样的设计目的在于激发学生参与课堂的积极性。Step III. Practice 1. A Harmonious Zoo Lets chant. T: You see it is a harmonious zoo. The elephant is drinking. The bear isAsk Ss to chant together.2. A Peaceful ZooLook and say Show Ss the animals are doing what they like in the zoo. Ask Ss to talk about the animals. S1: The pig is eating. S2: The mouse is playing. S3: The dogs are sleeping. S4:3. A Colorful ZooGuessing game Show Ss the pictures which are partly covered. Ask Ss to guess what it is doing, or what they are doing. Lead Ss to guess like this: Is the rabbit? Are the pandas ?S1: Is the rabbit jumping?T: Yes, it is.S2: Is the panda sleeping?T: No, it isnt.S3: Are the pandas playing?T: Yes, they are.S4: Are the dogs eating?T: No, they arent. Ask some Ss to ask and answer in pairs.4. Watch and answerShow Ss the flash of the textbook on page 52. Ask Ss to answer the following questions:(1) Whats the name of Chen Jies dog?(2) What is the dog doing?(3) What are the rabbits doing?设计意图:操练环节还是以动物园为主题,以和谐、平静、多彩这三大特点来展开操练。由于有了呈现环节的及时巩固,Lets chant的活动展开较为流畅了。接着让学生看图描述,巩固现在进行时的用法,同时呈现的动物既有单数又有复数,使学生注意区别be动词is和are的正确使用。猜谜游戏时让学生运用“Is the rabbit jumping?”Are the pandas sleeping?”这样的句型进行猜谜,其实是操练了一般疑问句的问答。把目标语的操练用各种各样的游戏形式呈现,而不是枯燥地做对话。Step IV. Consolidation & ExtensionLets show My favorite animalsT: Chen Jie likes her friend Fido. Maybe dog is her favorite animal. And my favorite animal is monkey. Its so cute. Now its time for you to choose your favorite animal from this zoo.Ask Ss to choose the animals they like from the pictures I prepared. Stick it on working paper and write about it. Then discuss it in group. Ask some Ss to make a presentation in front of the whole class. T: You have your favorite animals. And animals are our friends.
