Stimulate the students interest by discussion, cooperation, exploration and competition.Teaching processStep1 Warming up and Lead-inAsk three students to blow the balloon. After two minutes, show the students which balloon is the biggest. Then lead to the topic, comparative and superlative.Step2 PresentationDivide the whole class into six groups. Each group has about six students. Each group will be given a task. At the end of the task, group members are supposed to find the rules of the changes for comparative and superlative.Step3 ConsolidationTeacher summarizes the rules.Regular changes for the comparative and superlative of adjectives:直:一般直接在词尾加-er,-est;去:以不发音的e结尾,去e再加er,est;双:“辅元辅”结构,双写再加-er,-est;改:辅音字母加y,改y为i加er;多more:多音节或部分双音节,原形前面加上more,mostIrregular changes in the comparative and superlative for adjectives:合二为一共三对坏,病,两多并两好一分为二有两个一是远来二是老还有一词含双义只记少来不记小Step 4 PresentationGuide the students to summarize the structures of comparative and superlative.Step 5 Consolidation and CompetitionEach group has a chance to do the exercise.
