Language knowledge goals:1) Master the following words: rules, arrive, hall, dining hall, listen, listen to, fight, sorry, outside, wear, ( be ) on time2) To master the following sentence patterns:Dont eat in class. We must be on time. Eat in the dining hall.What are the rules? We cant arrive late for class. Can we listen to music?No, we cant listen to music in the hallways; but we can listen to it outside.2. Language skill goals:Learn to express some signs in English.Use target language to talk about certain rules and regulations (school rules, rules, etc.)3. Emotional attitudes value goals:It is possible to express and formulate simple rules in English and understand that there is no rule without rules. Whether it is in school or in the family and later in society, it is important to follow the rules.Importance and difficulty in teachingTeaching important points:Grasp the structures of the imperatives:1) Be sure that the imperative is the beginning with the original verb of the subject.2) The negative imperative is to add dont to the beginning of the original verb.Teaching difficult points:Grasp the use of imperative sentences, and speak simple imperative sentences correctly.Teaching procedures. Revision Show a picture on the screen and talk about it freely with the students.T: What are the family people doing?Ss: They are watching TV. T: Yes, they do. How do you like them?Ss: They look happy and relaxed. T: Yeah. We know watching TV is very relaxing. Many people like watching TV in their free time, such as in the evening, on weekends, during the holidays. Of course, I like watching TV to relax myself after work. How about you?. Lead inThe teacher leads in the new lesson.T: Do you like watching TV? Ss: Yes, I do.T: Can you watch TV every day, after school or on school nights? Ss: No, I cant. T: Why? Ss: Because IT: Yeah, your mother doesnt let you watch. You are a middle school student, and you often have a lot of homework to do. Maybe your mother often says, “Dont watch TV! Do your homework first! Dont go out on school nights. Read more books.”Ss: Quite right.T: All these are rules. You have to follow them. Because they are good for you, for your health. OK. Today well learn the new unit Unit 4 Dont eat in class. to talk about rules. And well learn the new structures - imperatives and the usage of modal verbs and can, must and have to.III . New words learningThe Ss open the text book at Page 122, teach the new words on page 19-20.The Ss read the new words follow the teacher several times till they can read them correctly.Check some students, and reteach them the wrong words if its necessary.Show some pictures ,and the students say out the meaning using the new words theyve just learn.IV. PresentationShow several pictures one by one on the screen, and presenting the new structures. T: Look at the boy! He is outside the classroom. Whats wrong with him?Ss: He is late for class.T: What school rule is it about? Ss: 上课不能迟到。T: Yeah, dont arrive late for class.( Show the imperative on the screen. ) Ss read it.In the same way, present the rest imperatives.T: Look at the girl! Ss: Dont eat in class.T: Look at the boys! Ss: Dont fight.T: Look at the boy! Ss: Dont listen to the music.T: Look at the school rules on the screen. Please read them out together. Try to find out the structures,Ss look and think Explain the pattern of the sentences.Dont + 动词原形 + . / ! 祈使句的否定句动词原形 + . / !祈使句的肯定句祈使句般用来表示请求、命令、劝说、好找、警告等。在祈使句中,通常省略第二人称主语you。肯定式以动词原形开头,否定式以动词原形前加dont。V. Listening(1)1a. Which rules are these students breaking? Write the number of the rule next to the student. The Ss read the school rules in the box aloud together.The Ss complete the match practice.Check the answers on the screen.Have a game. Show some pictures on the screen, the students tell their classmates what the rules should be.1b . Listen. What rules are these students breaking? Write the numbers after the names. Explain to the students what they need to hear.The Ss read the names out.Play the tape for the students to listen and write the numbers.Check the answers on the screen.The students listen again and complete the conversation.1c. Student A is a new student. Student B tells Student A about the rules above. Show the example on the screen, the students practice in pairs. E.g.A: What are the rules?B: Well, we cant arrive late for class. We must be on time.Ask the Ss about some school rule questions T: Can the students run in the hallways? Ss: No, they cant. They cant run in the hallways.The Ss practice the patterns using the other phrases, such as eat an apple / fight / listen to the music / be late for the class.Ask the Ss how people say the school rules.Explain the structures and show them on the screen. T: The same meaning can be expressed in different ways.Ss practice in pairs for three minutes.Check some pairs.Evaluate the students learning situation and correct the errors.VI. Listening(2)2a. Listen. Check () the activities Alan and Cindy talk about.First, the students read the sentences in 2a together.The Ss listen to the recording and check the activities they hear.Play the recording again for the Ss to check the answers.2b. Listen again. Can Alan and Cindy do these activities? Circle can or cant above.Make Sure the Ss know what they should do.Listen to the recording again for the Ss to listen and circle.Check the answers2c. Student A is Alan and Student B is Cindy. Talk about the rules in 2a.Show the example on the screen, the students practice in pairs. E.g.A: Can we listen to music, Cindy?B: No, we cant listen to music in the hallways; but we can listen to it outside.Check some pairs.Evaluate the students learning situation and correct the errors.VII. Language points1. Dont arrive late for class. arrive vi. 到达= get (to) arrive后接表示地点的副词时,则不需要用介词。e.g. She often arrives home at 7:30 in the evening. 她经常晚上7: 30到家。arrive要表示“到达某地”,后需加介词at (一般用于较小的地点)或in(一般用于较大的地点) 。e.g. They _ Beijing at six 他们六点钟到的北京。 We usually _ the train station in the morning. 我们通常在早上到达。【链接】get to也可表示“到达某地”。e.g. I usually _ by bike. 我通常骑自行车上学。注意: arrive和get后接here, there, home之类的副词时,不加介词。e.g. When do you usually arrive / get home? I usually arrive / get here at noon.根据句意选用get或arrive填空,有的需要变换形式。1. David _ toLondonlast week.2. Yesterday the man _ at the airport on time.3. We _ here at five oclock yesterday.2. Dont _ in class. 不能在教室里听音乐。1) listen v. 听;用来提醒某人注意,后面不跟事物。 e.g. 听!谁在教室里唱歌? Listen! Whos singing in the classroom? 2) 如果后面跟要听的事物,应跟介词to再跟事物。 e.g. _ our teacher carefully. 认真听老师讲。VIII. Exercises.根据句意及所给汉语提示,写出句中所缺单词。1. The _(规则) of the game are very simple (简单的).2. His uncle usually _(到达) at his work place at 7:00 a.m.3. Jim never _(打架) with his brother.4.
