Sing the song The dinosaur song. Step II. Presentation 1.Pro-reading: Teach the words: huge, tallest (1) Invite Ss to the museum to see the dinosaur. (2) Show s picture of the dinosaur on the screen. T: Whats this? Is it a real dinosaur? No, its a model dinosaur. (Teach the word “model”.) T: Whats the model dinosaur like? (Maybe Ss will say “big”. Then teach the word “huge”.) (3)T: How tall is the dinosaur? Its 4.2 metres. (Let Ss read.) (4)Show three pictures of the dinosaur. Talk about their height. Then teach the word “tallest” by comparison. (5)Teach the words : bumpy skin, horn, wing T: Do the dinosaurs look the same? The answer is no. Look at these dinosaurs. (Teach “bumpy skin, horn, wing) 2. While-reading (1) T: Do you want to know more about the dinosaurs? Please read the text, and finish the exercise. 1. Are there many different dinosaurs? A. Yes, there are. B. No, there arent. 2.Do all the dinosaurs eat meat? A. Yes, they do. B. No, they dont. (2) Read the text carefully, fill in the blanks. 3. Post-reading Group work Four students in a group. According to the text. discuss with the partners and describe the model dinosaur. Then make a report. Step III. Emotional education Cultivate the spirit of exploration. Step IV.
