And today we are going to learn Unit1 Can you play the guitar?. Presentation1. The teacher creates a situation: Students go to a new school and have different classmates (pictures show it).And the first thing to do is to help your new classmates join clubs.2. The teacher teaches vocabularies and phrases about abilities using pictures.3. Finish 1a in the text book.4. Let students ask and answer the new classmates abilities to help them join clubs:Can he/she play the guitar? Yes, he/she can./ No, he/she cant. Listening 1. T: Now lets listen to the tape, find out the right conversation, and number them 1-3.A: Can you swim?B: No, I cant. A: I want to join the art club. B: Can you draw? A: Yes, I can.A: I want to join the music club. B: Oh, can you sing?A: Yes, I can. 2. Check the answers: (2,3, 1 ) 3. Listen again and answer the questions. 1) In conversation 1, what club does the girl want to join? Can she sing?2) In conversation 2, can the boy swim?3) In conversation 3, what club does the girl want to join? Can she draw?. Pair work Ask the Ss to practice the conversations in 1b with a partner. Then make their own conversations. A: I want to join B: Can you ?A: Yes, I can. / No, I cant. Exercise:The teacher asks students to make sentences according to the pictures of PPT.Zheng Kai cant draw.But he can play the guitar.
