Warm-up and lead-in Set a certain language circumstance to help the Ss revise What they have learned Do you have a healthy lifestyle?How often do you exercise?How should we keep healthy?What are your vacation plans?Step 2. IntroductionAfter revision, lead the students into the transportation topic naturally and introduce new contents. T: I had a good time last week. I went to Center Park. How did I get there? (Use a gesture to help students answer.) Ss: Walk / on foot. DiscussionGet the students to practice the means of transportation. Then divide the class into groups and discuss the advantage and disadvantage of each means of transportation. Look and describe Present a picture. Let the students observe the pictures and answer the following questions What is the boy / girl doing?How does he / she get to?After discussion, sum up the students answers. Then ask individual student to describe the picture generally with the target language.Step 5. InterviewGet students to act as interviewers. Ask them to interview the classmates “How do you get to school?” How long does it take? Teach the new word “take”. Then ask them to draw the chart. The students total number 45(students) How do you get to school? How long does it take? Teach the new numbers: forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, hundred, while teaching, remind the differences between “-teen” and “- ty” and ask them to practice numbers and use the mew word correctly.Finally help the students to report their interview results in class.Step 6. Listening and speaking In this step, introduce to the students that my five friends Bob, Mary, Paul, YangLan, John are talking about their ways of getting to school. Get the students to listen to it carefully and write the names next to the correct pictures. (Section A 1b)Then ask the students to listen to another listening material. Get the students to find out the means of transportation they use and time it takes them to finish the exercise (Section A 2C)Step 7. Travel Show the students the map of China and explain the geographic situation of different parts of our country and ask them to choose convenient and reasonable means of transportation and tell about the reasons why they choose them. (Help students to think about transportation advantage and disadvantage)Step 8. Homework (Survey)Ask the students to survey the students in their school about the means of transportation they use to get to school, the time it often takes them, what transportation problems they meet and give them advice, then ask them to write a survey report so as to improve their writin
