At first, it was celebrated for the birth of Jesus Christ. However, it is still a biggest festival in the West. It is as important to the Westerners as the Spring Festival is to the Chinese people. Christmas day is on the 25th of December, and Christmas Eve is of course the evening of the previous day, the 24th December.
