Unit 8 Is there a post office near here?I. Materials AnalysisThis unit is the eighth unit of Go For It Book II for Ss in Grade 7. This class is the first period of Unit 8. It focuses on Ss listening and speaking skills on asking the way and giving simple directions. It will involve many places like post office, restaurant, police station, etc., and many phrases to describe locations like across from, next to, behind, in front of, etc. Ss are required to memorize these new words in advance, so it is predicted that Ss have little difficulty lexically.II. Teaching Objectives 1. Knowledge Objectives(a) Master the new words to talk about places: post office, police station, restaurant, hotel, bank, hospital, street, pay phone, , go along, turn left/right.(b) Master the phrases to describe locations: on(street),across from, in front of, behind, next to.(c) Master the target languages to ask the way and give simple directions: Excuse me. Is therenear here?Yes, there is./No, there isnt. Go along Turn left/right.2. Skills ObjectivesTo develop Ss basic listening and speaking skills to talk about locations, to ask the way and to give directions. 3.
