Unit 7 Section B Do you think you will have your own robot? 教案设计Analysis of teaching material The language goal of this unit is “Make predictions”. This lesson is focused on the topic of Opinions about robots in the future. At the same time, this passage enriches the knowledge of outside classroom and opens up the students mind.Students reading levelIts the first time for students to get in touch with such a long passage, so some students may feel worried。But because the topic of this passage is Robot,which can attract students andstimulatethestudentsimagination. With some knowledge of future tense, the passage is long but not difficult. Reading strategyTask-based reading and communicative approach are the main methods in this class. Students will be able to get general idea or specific information by using reading skills like skimming, scanning, fast reading and careful reading.Teaching aimsKnowledge objects:1. Students are expected to use the sentence patterns: Will + V There be sb/sth doing. Will be able to do. 2. Students are expected to learn some knowledge about robots. Ability objects:1. Students are expected to improve the abilities of predicting and imagining.2. Students will be encouraged to use the methods fast reading, careful reading, skimming, scanning to improve reading abilities and can have a good understanding of the whole text.3.Students will be encouraged to design their own robots and make a poster to describe robots using above sentence structures.Moral objects:Students will be motivated to have their dreams, work hard to achieve their goals and “never never give up”.Teaching ProceduresTeachers activitiesStudents activitiesStep1. Lead-inPlay a video about robots ,show students what can robots do. tWatch a movieStep2. Free talkQ1: What can robots do according to the video?Show students some pictures and discuss other things robots can do .Q2: What do robot look like ? Can you guess? (show other pictures to students)Ss give different answers according to the video. Ss may say they look like humans.Step3. PresentationQ1: Boys and girls ,now you know something about robots, do you want to know more about them ?Q2: such as where can you find robots ?And can they do the same things as people ?OK,now lets find answers in 2bs reading Do you think yo will have your own robot ?Please turn to page 53.Students may answer “Yes”.Students turn their book to page 53.Step4.SkimmingAsk the Ss to read the passage quickly and finish 2b(Match the paragraphs with the questions they discusses). Ss read the passage quickly and find the answer.Step5.ScanningAsk the Ss to read the passage again and get the main ideas with several words,such as Robots in movies,Todays robots and so on.(Combine 4 main ideas into a shape of robot.)Ss read the passage and get four main ideas.Step6.Careful readingAsk the Ss to read para.1 carefully and answer the following questions. 1.What are robots like?2. What can they do?3. Where do they work?Then return to the Robot PPT (made from 4 main ideas)and ask Ss to read para.2. Q1:What can they do in factories?Q2:fill the blanks1,Today there are already robots_ in factories. Some can help to_ cars, and they do_ jobs over and over again. 2,_ people will do such jobs in the future because they are boring, but robots will never get _. Continue to learn para.3First ,Read the first four sentences and answer 3 questions:Q1:what are scientists doing now ?Q2:which country was mentioned(提到)?Q3:what can robots in Japan do?Then Read the last part of para3. Think about: Who thinks robots can think like humans? Who disagrees? What are their views?
