Focus Points:Make the students learn the problems and causes of wildlife and find the solutions to wildlife protection.Difficult Points: Make the students learn to use the sentence patterns about purpose and intention.Teaching Aids: computer, projectorTeaching Method: Task-based teaching approachTeaching Procedures:(Before class, play “A Journey into Wild” for the students to watch and enjoy.)Step 1. Lead in Task : Play music of “Sound of Nature” for the students to listen and imagine the beautiful things in nature.Purpose: to arouse the students love for nature to lead in the topic of this period.Step 2. Warming- upPlay a short movie “Mountain Patrol” about Mans too much hunting for animals and find: “What happened to animals?”Task : Ask the students to name some endangered animals and work in pairs to find:“Why are these animals endangered?”Purpose: to teach some words about endangered animals and make the students talk and find the causes of wildlife.Step 3. Listening Task: Play the listening material about “ the story of the dodos” for the students to listen twice and get the information about the dodos.The first listening: to listen and get the main idea. The second listening: to listen again and fill in the blanks.Purpose: to get the students to realize the importance and urgency of wildlife protection because some animals have died out.Step 4. Individual WorkTask: Ask the students to read a report on some endangered animals to see how the government has tried to save them and report the problems, the solutions and the results of wildlife protection given by our government.Purpose: to get the students to know the problems and the ways to solve the problems that wild animals are facing in order to help the students to get some knowledge about saving wildlife.Step 5. SpeakingTask: Play a short video about “What Jackie Chan is doing for protecting animals.”, and ask the students to work in groups to make a plan for protecting animals, then the group leaders should report the plans they made.Purpose: to call on the students to take action to find solutions of wildlife protection since some famous people have set a good example for us.Step 6. Sum upT: Today weve learned some endangered animals like panda, south China tiger, Milu deer, antelope in English. We talk about the problems they are facing and the causes of wildlife protection.
