访学申请信 School of Materials Science and EngineeringXian University of Architecture and Technology235 Jiandong StreetXian, Shaanxi 710055P. R. China18 January, 2012Professor WilliamLeeDepartment of MaterialsImperial College LondonSouth Kensington Campus London SW7 2AZUKDear Professor Lee, I am writing to inquire about the possibility of my studying and researching in your lab for twelve months as a visiting scholar. While preparing for my application to China Scholarship Council/ Since my application to China Scholarship Council has been approved, I would like to express my strong interest in joining your research group and collaborating in your scholarly work.I am a professor in School of Materials Science and Engineering, Xian University of Architecture and Technology here in China, and my research interest is mainly on refractories. I got my Bachelors degree in Inorganic Non-metallic Materials in 1990 and Masters in the same specialty in 1993 in the same university where I have been working since 1990. Afterwards, I got my Doctors degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Xian Jiaotong University in 2005. My current research focuses on refractories and high-temperature ceramic and I am proceeding with my research program. However, due to the restricted condition in experiment, finance and limited personal experience, I would like to find an opportunity to go abroad for further study and research.Your researches are of particular interest to me, especially in corrosion resistance of refractories and use of phase diagrams in studies of refractories corrosion. Your groups research is so innovative that I believe that if given the opportunity to work under your guidance, I would be able to share your enlightening ideas and improve my research capacity in this field, which will greatly benefit both my personal advancement and the overall development in related research in my university. All costs for my visit abroad, including accommodation, health insurance, living expenses and round-trip international air tickets, will be covered by China Scholarship Council. I would also like you to know that my proposed stay in Britain lasts from September 2012 to September 2013, which is adjustable according to your schedule. After I finish my visit in Britain, I will be back to China and continue my research in the field of refractories. Your suggestions and consideration upon my request will be highly appreciated. I am looking forward to your favorable reply at your earliest convenience. Sincerely yours, Liu Tianhong 访学英文简历 CURRICULUM VITAEName: Liu Tianhong Nationality: ChineseDate of birth: 12 May, 1968Place of birth: Henan, P. R. K.Dear Dr. Roberts:Recently I got to know Dr. Mike Stevens when he was attending the International High-Tech Product Exhibition Week held in Beijing from May 815, 2010. As I am very interested in going abroad to do researches into electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure development, Dr. Stevens suggested I should contact you for information regarding international collaboration. In the last ten years or so, I have been engaged in EV R&D projects in China and made considerable progress in this field. What I need to do now is to undertake an international survey of the current status in the key areas of EV support infrastructure. I plan to focus on operational experience with charging stations and systems, power quality issues and the effectiveness of standards setting frameworks.I wonder if it is possible for me to go to your institute to conduct research in the areas mentioned above. I am herein enclosing my c.v. for your reference. I would be very pleased if you could suggest any possible areas for our cooperation.I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely,(Signature)Chen XianmingDirectorEV R&D Center工作计划 WORK PLAN IntroductionThe drawback of the success story of the automobile industry is the pollution produced by tail pipe. Pollution reduces the quality of life especially in urban areas with high population and vehicle densities. On this background alternative fuels for vehicles have been investigated. Electricity is the only candidate that avoids any emissions, and in the long run, is independent of future oil shortage. The presently known world oil resources last 43 years at constant consumption. Therefore, electricity offers the only solution for urban areas.Beijing is one of the ten most polluted cities in the world. In 1999 the Chinese government initiated the Clean Air Project-Clean Vehicle Action scheme for the research and development, manufacture, and utilization of electric vehicles in twelve big cities in China such as Beijing and Shanghai. I have been heavily involved in this scheme to develop electric buses for public transport. Now that the R&D part of the work is completed, we are planning for the infrastructure development. What I plan to do now is to undertake an international survey of the current status in the key areas of EV support infrastructure.Work PlanDuring my 6-month visit to XXX University, my proposed research will focus on the following parts of infrastructure:Vehicle part of infrastructure: including information of dealers and sales organizations of Evs, components suppliers and training of service personnel;Utility part of infrastructure: information about production and distribution of electricity, technology of c
