2013届高考英语实战演练专题阅读理解(111-115)附详析 (第111篇)Its only 4 hours flying time from Sydney, but a world away. What better place to rest than a country where the only place people hurry is on the football field and things are done in“Fiji time”?Viti Levu Great Fiji is the largest island. Here youll find the capital Suva and the international airport at Nadi. Vatoa, on the other hand,is a tiny island in the farthest part of Fiji. Then there are 331 other islands, many of them with places to stay. With less than a million people living on islands, youll never feel crowded. And with a climate (气候)that changes only for five degrees between seasons, theres never a bad time to come. From cities to villages, from mountains to beaches, from water sports to wooden artworks, Fiji can give you more adventures and special experiences than you could find almost anywhere in the world.Whenever you come, wherever you go, youre sure to see some unforgettable events. From war dances to religious (宗教的)songs. From market days to religious days. Its not just staged for tourists;its still a part of everyday life in Fiji. And any one of us can enjoy Fijis spirit by being part of the traditional(传统的) sharing of yaqona, a drink made from the root of a Fiji plant. So why not join us for the experience of a lifetime? 1Where is the international airport of Fiji?A. Too often it is viewed as mere entertainment, but certainly not an education priority (优先). This view is shortsighted. In fact, music education is beneficial and important for all students.Music tells us who we are. Because music is an expression of the beings who create it, it reflects their thinking and values, as well as the social environment it came from. Rock music represents a lifestyle just as surely as does a Schubert song. The jazz influence that George Gershwin and other musicians introduced into their music is obviously American because it came from American musical traditions. Music expresses our character and values. It gives us identity as a society.Music provides a kind of perception (感知) that cannot be acquired any other way. Science can explain how the sun rises and sets. The arts explore the emotive (情感的) meaning of the same phenomenon. We need every possible way to discover and respond to our world for one simple but powerful reason:No one way can get it all.The arts are forms of thought as powerful in what they communicate as mathematical and scientific symbols. They are ways we human beings“talk” to each other. They are the language of civilization through which we express our fears, our curiosities, our hungers, our discoveries, our hopes. The arts are ways we give form to our ideas and imagination so that they can be shared with others. When we do not give children access to an important way of expressing themselves such as music,we take away from them the meanings that music expresses.Science and technology do not tell us what it means to be human. The arts do. Music is an important way we express human suffering, celebration, the meaning and value of peace and love.So music education is far more necessary than people seem to realize. 5According to Paragraph 1, students_.A. regard music as a way of entertainmentB. disagree with their parents on educationC. view music as an overlooked subjectD. prefer the arts to science解析事实细节题。根据第一段第三句“Too often it is viewed as mere entertainment.”可知。答案A6In Paragraph 2,the author uses jazz as an example to_.A. compare it with rock musicB. show music identifies a societyC. introduce American musical traditionsD. prove music influences peoples lifestyles解析推理判断题。 The jazz influence.is obviously American because it came from American musical traditions. It gives us identity as a society. B7According to the passage ,the arts and science_.A. approach the world from different anglesB. explore different phenomena of the worldC. express peoples feelings in different waysD. explain what it means to be human differently解析推理判断题。由第四段第二句“They are ways we human beings talkto each other.”可知。答案A8What is the main idea of the passage?A. Music education deserves more attention.B. Music should be of top education priority.C. Music is an effective communication tool.D. Music education makes students more imaginative. 答案A (第113篇)Camping wild is a wonderful way to experience the natural world and, at its best, it makes little environmental influence. But with increasing numbers of people wanting to escape into the wilderness, it is becoming more and more important to camp unobtrusively (不引人注目地) and leave no mark.Wild camping is not permitted in many places, particularly in crowded lowland Britain. Wherever you are, find out about organizations responsible for managing wild spaces, and contact them to find out their policy on camping and shelter building. For example, it is fine to camp wild in remote parts of Scotland, but in England you must ask the landowners permission, except in national parks.Camping is about having relaxation, sleeping outdoors, experiencing bad weather, and making do without modern conveniences. A busy, fullyequipped campsite(野营地) seems to go against this, so seek out smaller, more remote places with easy access to open spaces and perhaps beaches. Better still, find a campsite with no road access:walking in makes a real adventure.Finding the right spot to camp is the first step to guaranteeing a good nights sleep. Choose a campsite with privacy and minimum influence on others and the environment. Try to use an area where people have obviously camped before rather than creating a new spot. When camping in woodland, avoid standing dead trees, which may fall on a windy night. Avoid animal runs and caves, and possible homes of biting insects. Make sure you have most protection on the windward side. If you make a fire, do so downwind of your shelter.Always consider what influence you might have on the natural world.Avoid damaging plants. A good campsite found, not madechanging it should be unnecessary. 1You neednt ask for permission when camping in_.A. national parks in EnglandB. most parts of ScotlandC. crowded lowland BritainD. most parts of England解析事实细节题。由第二段.,but in England you must ask the landowners permission, except in national parks. A2The author thinks that a good campsite is one_.A. with easy accessB. used previouslyC. with modern conveniencesD. far away from beaches解析推理判断题。由第三段最后一句“Better still, find a campsite with no road access.”排除A项;由第三段首句“Camping is about having relaxation, sleeping outdoors, experiencing bad weather, and making do without modern conveniences.”排除C项;由“.seek out smaller, more remote places with easy access to open spaces and perhaps beaches.” B3The last paragraph mainly deals with_.A. protecting animalsB. building a campfireC. camping in woodlandD. finding a campsite with privacy解析事实细节题。由“When camping in woodland, avoid standing dead trees.”可知。答案C4The passage is mainly about_.A. the protection of campsitesB. the importance of wild campingC. the human influence on campsitesD. the dos and donts of wild camping解析主旨大意题。 答案D (第114篇)Western New Bridge Library Announcement2008-3-10Shortened Library Hours for Spring BreakLibrary Hours have been shortened to 7 hours a day (900 a. m400 p. m. ) for Spring Break from March 24 to March 30.Coming EventsOn Monday,March 24,at 1030 a. m. ,Scott Sutton,a childrens writer, will tell stories to kids over seven. Places of business that used to keep daytime“ business hours” are now open late into the night. And on the Internet, the hour of the day and the day of the week have become irrelevant(不相关的). A half century ago in the United States, most people experienced strong and precise dividing lines between days of rest and days of work, school time and summer time. Today the boundaries still exist, but they seem not clear. The law in almost all states used to require stores to close on Sunday; in most, it no longer does. It used to keep the schools open in all seasons except summer; in most, it still does. And whether the work week should strengthen its legal limits,or whether it should become more“ flexible”, is often debated. How should we, as a society, organize our time? Should we go even further in relaxing the boundaries of time until we live in a world in which every minute is much like every other? These are not easy questions even to ask. Part of the difficulty is that we rarely recognize the“law of time” even when we meet it face to face. We know as children that we have to attend school a certain number of hours, a certain number of days, a certain number of yearsbut unless we meet the truant officer(学监), we may well think that we should go to school due to social custom and parents demand rather than to the law. As adults we are familiar with“extra pay for overtime working,” but less familiar with the fact that what constitutes(构成) “overtime” is a matter of legal definition. When we turn the clock forward to start daylightsaving time, have we ever thought to ourselves:“ Here is the law in action”? As we shall see, there is a lot of law that has great influence on how we organize and use time: compulsory education law, overtime law, and daylightsaving lawas well as law about Sunday closing, holidays, being late to work ,time zones, and so on. Once we begin to look for it, we will have no trouble finding a law of time to examine and assess. (Sunday is more like Monday than it used to be. 1By saying “Sunday is more like Monday that it used t
