Bryant was in the building working on his debut musical album. At that time, Laine was still a senior at Marina High School. Then the two began dating and were engaged in May 2000 . Due to the media, she finished high school through independent study. According to Vanessas cousin Laila Laine, there was no prenuptial agreement.
