Unit 5 What were you doing when the rainstorm came?Section A (1a-2d)教学设计缑雪飞一 从容说课Section A 该部分有4个板块:第一模块围绕“Where were you?”这一话题展开思维(1a)、听力(1b)、口语(1c)训练;第二模块围绕“a boys story”进行听力(2a-2b)和口语(2c-2d)训练;第三模块就“The storm brought people closer together”这一话题展开阅读训练(3a-3b),并就这一话题进行进一步的讨论(3c);第四模块,对本单元的重要语言结构进行训练,连词when和while的用法(4a-4b)、过去进行时(4c)。二 教学目标1. 能够掌握过去进行时态。2. 能够用所学语言描述自己的经历。3. 通过用英语讲述自己的故事,激发学生学英语的积极性。三 教学内容1. Words and expression:rainstorm, suddenly, alarm, go off, pick up, strange, at the time of, at that time2. Grammar: the past progressive tense四 教学过程Step 1 Lead-inLead in by showing a video of a person walking in the rainstorm helplessly. And talk about this situation with students.Can you guess whats the feeling of the person? Have you ever had the same experience? Can you share the experience with us? What were you doing when the rainstorm came?Step 2 PresentationLook at the sentence in the picture: “What were people doing yesterday at the time of the rainstorm?” Read it aloud over and over, try to recite it. Then think over what the difference is between “What were you doing” and “What are you doing?”Have some students try to say out their ideas.Then point out that they both mean “doing”, but “were” represents in a past time, while “are” represent now.Step 3 Listening1. Listen to the TV reporter and circle the correct response in 1a.2. Check the students answers.3. Listen and repeat.Step 4 PracticeTalk about what the people were doing at the time of rainstorm.A: What was the girl doing at the time of the rainstorm?B: She wasStep 5 Listening1. Listen and number the pictures in 2a.2. Listen again. Fill in the blanks in the sentences for each picture in 2a.3. Check the students answers.Step 6 Pair work1. Listen to the tape again and repeat it.2. Role-play the conversation between the boy and a TV reporter.Step 7 Role-playing1. Go over the conversation in 2d, and deal with the difficulties in groups.Go over the conversation in 2d quickly, if you have any trouble, discuss them in your group. The teacher goes through the classroom and offer help if necessary.2. Read aloud the conversation in pairs.3.
