Section A(3a,3b,3c)教学设计 西安市第六中学 彭桂芳Analysis of the teaching material: This session deals with the topic of helping others to Unit 2 Section A Period of the textbook by peoples education. A series of Class activities are organized regarding the subject. Students will learn how to help others by visiting old peoples home ,cheer sick kids up ,help to clean up the city parks ,help kids how to read in the library,help to care for animals at the animal hospital.Students are also expected to learn to express responsibility by using the forms of phrasal verbs and infinitives. The practice of listening, reading, speaking and writing are integrated so as to enable the students to learn by doing. Through classroom interactions, students will ultimately be able to use English accurately.Analysis of the students: Since students of Grade Eight have had some command of listening and speaking skills. this lesson will engage students in practical exercises in an attempt to stimulate students interests into participating in language communication. By doing so students will be glad to put the language in use, which could set a better learning context for students and serve as a good foundation for fulfilling the objectives of teaching.Teaching aims:Knowledge Objectives: .help students to learn the target language: Be a volunteer today! How can we help people? Students who volunteer ! How do you feel about helping people? .Using the target language to make a notice, accept a notice and turn down a notice. And learn how to use “help do sth. or help to do sth.”to express ones obligations.Ability Objectives: By the end of this class, Ss learn to grasp the key information while reading and improve the skills of cooperating and learn how to get information from the reading.Moral Objectives: Through activities, guide students to learn how to describe their feelings, at the same time express their obligations, develop their ability to relate politely to others and help others in their daily lives. Type of lesson: A new lessonClass period: 45minutesImportant points: Grasp the target language of new words, phrasal verbs, infinitives and describe how we can help people.Difficult points: Master the use of infinitives such ashelp do sth.or help to do sth.and so on.Teaching methods: Presentation, Reading ,Speaking and Writing.Competition and Cooperation; Situational teaching; Communicative approach;Learning methods:a) Ss are encouraged to speak freely. b) Ss are guided to learn some reading strategies;c) Ss are leaded to use the target language correctly.Resources of teaching: Teachers book ; Students book & chalkTeaching Procedures:Teaching ProceduresWhat T does in classWhat Ss do in class(Ts expectation) Purpose of the designStep I Greetings and warming up:Ask: Do you often help others? What do you usually do to help people?1. Greet the whole Ss and ask the kinds of helping others.2. Show some pictures on the screen about poor people .They answer Ts questions by using some verb phrases they have learnt, such as “ help do sth.,help to do sth., cheer up sb. ,clean up the city parks ”and so on.Its designed to help Ss review the activities about people who need help.Step II Speaking and Free talk :i.Let the students look at one pictureon the screen answer questions.ii.Let the students to look at another picture on the screen, answer questions.The teacher shows the picture about own volunteering at poor school in the remote countryside on the screen and ask a boy and a girl to answer the questions ,then the teacher describe the picture .The teacher shows another picture about own teaching in class on the screen. Ask students to answer questions then the teacher describe the picture .They are able to give the answers together according to the picture.Most students are able to guess and say out the name of the teacher on the picture . The tasks are designed to develop Ss speaking skills and understand the meaning of help and caring for people.iii.Show the picture about Belt and Road Volunteers and ask questions. Ask students to look at the picture about Belt and Road Volunteers. And ask the students when and where the meeting was held. They are also able to answer the question .It is designed to help Ss to understand the target language and understand the meaning of caring for others and help people.Step III Presentation According to the picture elicit students to say how to help people and elicit the topic of the reading . Ask: i. Whats the title of the text ?ii. Do the students work for money or for free ? iii.Are the students young or old ? How do you know?Show the picture about the man and the boy and ask the questions .i. Is the student in the first picture a boy or a girl ?ii. Where is he ? iii.What job do you think the man next to him in the picture does?Show another picture about girls and ask questions:iv.Where are the girls? Are they in the classroom or in the library? Why ? What are they doing?What do the two students volunteer to do ? Ask the students to turn to the page of 11 and ask students to read the story a group of four and answer the questions below.v. First one student to read the first question loudly and ask students to read the first paragraph of the story and find the answer.vi. Use the same method to continue other questions. The students can read the story and find the answer to the questions . Its designed to help students to sum up the target language by reading by themselves.Step IV ExerciseAccording to the target language ,students need master the use of infinitives.Show the exercises on the screen and ask the students to answer them orally.Students hand up and fill in the blanks then correct the answers. Its designed to help students to consolidate the target language by doing exercises by themselves.Step IV Pair work and Role-playi. Show the picture and ask students to look at the wheel on it. Divide them into two groups and let them have a competitionii. Ask the students to work in pairs.Play the wheel and encourage students to translate the phrases into English as quickly as possible when it stops.Which group can translate more, they are winners.Help students to understand how to use these target language.Walk in the classroom and give help if necessary.They try their best to translate more verb phrases.Practice in pairs first and then several pairs will show it to the whole class.They are designed to help students to review the verb phrases and understand the target language in this unit well.They are also designed to help students to develop their abilities to cooperate.Step V Retell the storyi. First ask students fill in the chart.ii. Tell the students to retell the story by using own words according the text.iii.After that the teacher give the students some gifts as award.Show the chart of the story on the screen, then ask students to fill in the blanks and correct together. Some students are supposed to fill in the blanks and some more students retell the story ,The rest are supposed to be listening carefully. Theyre designed to help students to practice the target language theyve learnt.Step VI Extension Ask:If you want to help people how to make a plan to volunteer ?Show some pictures about volunteers in our school and a real volunteer in our class. Call on the students to learn from them.Elicit the students to say:How often do you volunteer to help people in your free time? Do you usually volunteer to do sth.? Point at “do”, tell the students they can replace verb phrases here.Get the students to make a volunteer plan. The students know how to make a volunteer plan.Work in pairs to make a conversation according to the pictures. Get the students to say something good about the real volunteer in our class. Its designed for students to know more about volunteering and put it into action.Step VII Do a Survey about dream jobs Imagine someone is going to do volunteer work in his or her free time. He or she wants to do what kind of volunteer work . Show a picture about the dream job of the teacher after retiring .Ask the students to work in groups of four and give them some questions. Walk in the classroom and give help if necessary. One group one student to do a survey then report to the class.Show the teachers dream job on the screen.Work in groups andanswer the questions. Then some students do a survey and report the results.Its designed to help Ss to use target language correctly and freely and help Ss to learn from each other by cooperating with each other.Step VIII SummaryAsk
