STEP 4 explaining the passage paragraph by paragraphAsk one student read the first paragraph, then explaining it sentence by sentence.1 The restrictive attributive clause .第一句话中限制性定语从句 who go to a formal Western dinner party for the first time 做 people 的定语修饰 people。 In China, you sometimes get a hot, damp cloth to clean your face and hands, which, however, is not the custom in western countries. (Show the picture on the screen) Ask student the sentence in the paragraph 2 Dinner starts with a small dish, which is often called a starter. 2 Knowing them will help you make a good impression.动名词短语作主语且直接置于主语位置e.g.: Following your teachers advice is important. He realized that to go on like this was harmful.3 how to use knives and forks , when to drink a toast ,how to behave at the table 是三个并列的短语 做 knowing 的宾语特殊疑问代词 who ,what , which 等 和 疑问副词 when, where, how 等 后跟不定式 ,构成不定式短语 这种结构在句中可以做主语,宾语,表语等句子成分。例:Where to go is still a question.I know where to find the boy.The question is how to learn English well.4 The knife and fork that are closest to your plate are a little bit bigger than the ones beside them. (The knife and the fork 指的是 一个刀子和一个叉子,是复数概念,谓语应该用复数)E.g.: A knife and fork _needed for you to have western style food. The knife and the fork _needed for you to have western style food.许多老师讲文章当中是印刷错误 但我认为这是根据语境将the knife and fork 看做了复数因为所对应的为 the ones5 When you sit down at the table 在桌边与第四段 At table 在吃饭 就餐时6 Dinner starts with a small dish, which is often called a starter. start with =begin with : 以.开始7 When drinking to someones health, you raise your glasses, but the glasses should not touch. When (you are) drinking to someones health, you raise your glasses, but the glasses should not touch. When(you are)in trouble, ask her for help. Although good manners always make you look good, you do not need to worry about all these rules while (you are) having dinner with your friends or family.Step 5 DiscussionExcept what have talked in the text, could you list other
